Pretty cool that two Americans got a goal and an assist!
Mauro Suma has done it again 😂His reaction to Christian Pulisic’s goal is hilarious.“Yes we can! Yes we did! USA! USA!” 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/7r3datHCiq— WGM 👑 (@WhatGattusoMad) October 8, 2023
Yes. Mauro Suma started as freelance journalist in the Milan area in 1986 and has been a sports commentator since 1999.
As a fan he got caught up in the tension of a very good defensive effort making it look like it would be a tie and then they finally scored.
Speed Update: 35.0 km/h Fastest players (km/h) last time out 💨#UCL pic.twitter.com/YAQPdrSVLC— UEFA Champions League (@ChampionsLeague) October 10, 2023
It is NOT speed that matters. it is reaction and anticipation. To use a quote from a rather famous teacher/player: “Speed is often confused with insight. When I start running earlier than the others, I appear faster.” – Johan Cruyff That is where Pulisic shines most of the time. He sees opportunities before others and now that he is playing at a club that actually values that attribute he will continue to get better. Raw speed helps but it is not speed that makes a soccer player.
Speed definitely matters but it is one of many possible weapons. It's all how you use your weapons. It worked for this guy. And for this guy.
The European episode of The Athletic's Totally Football Show always highlights Suma's calls when Pulisic scores. They love the "Come on, baby!!" call. Between Suma and the inimitable Tiziano Crudeli (see below), they seem to be taking a shine to Pulisic. On a side note, if Apple could figure out a way to make a show like this for MLS I think I'd watch it for the car crash aspect of it . . . Why?? Except for making money there is no reason for any European team to tour the USA. Personally I do not want European teams playing friendlies against the MLS thugs there is too much risk of injury because of poor refereeing and sloppy play. It might be marginally OK if the foreign team brought all the referees but that would not protect the players from being hacked all over the field. Of course, if the matches were played like NHL all star matches where it appears the players agree that there will be no contact of any import, then they could play matches without worry except that the MLS guys might well not be skilled enough to intentionally miss their tackles.
LOL @ MLS thugs. While that might once have been an apt description the EPL is now much more physical.
Curious as I don't watch these moneyfest exhibitions but is getting injured a thing when they play here in the summer?
