Re: Christian Bale is Batman This is a relaunch of the series, so the Burton-began continuity has been jetisoned. By all appearances, this new Batman looks and feels completely different than the other series of movies....

Re: Christian Bale is Batman Personally, I thought Batman was incredible, Batman Returns and Batman Forever were decent, and Batman and Robin was blah. Perhaps not coincidentally, Batman and Robin was the only film in the series that Tim Burton had absolutely no involvement with (he directed the first, directed/co-produced the second and was an executive producer for the third). The new Batman film will far surpass the other ones, which I thought were ALL crap. Anybody who thought fat ass jack nicholsen was an appropriate choice for the Joker is outta their mind. He sucked almost as much as Micheal Keaton in that one. I've been a Batman geek forever, I loved Frank Millers Dark Knight Returns series...and that just begs to be animated into a full feature, doesn't it? The new one is directed by Chris Nolan- he did Following and Memento. Two great movies, he also did Insomnia, but I liked the original version so much I've hesitated to watch it ( euro snob? Maybe.) Anyway, I think he's finally going to put the DARK into the Dark Knight. I'm betting this will be a much more "grown up" film. The cast is pretty heavy, a good director....I'm betting on a good flick this time around. I too liked Christian Bale in American Psycho. That was a good movie. Pretty funny. But if you ever read the book, well, that wasn't so funny, it was pretty creepy.

Re: Christian Bale is Batman They had some extended clips of the new Batman and a very long question and answer period with Christian Bale at the WonderCon this weekend. This version of Batman is very different than any previous version. In fact, I don't think it is correct to consider this the movie version of Frank Miller's or anyone else's graphic novels. It has a unique, literate, gothic, and deeply introspective style. The visuals are monochromatic sepias, the martial arts direct and brutal, the tools are functional without Bond gimickery. It didn't seem as much a re-invention of the Batman idea as much as the study of someone who would become a Bat Man. Christian Bale is an incredibly intelligent actor, and gave some fantastic answers to some very silly nerd questions. He has spent some serious effort in creating the character, and I know he was the right choice. I am very interested in seeing this movie.
Re: Christian Bale is Batman Yes, the WonderCon was the biggest collection of nerds I have ever seen. But we got to see stuff about Batman no other non-insiders have seen, so it is still important to the thread.
Batman Begins question Is this movie going to be based on any of the Dark Knight books? Also, was Frank Miller part of the writing process? If this isn't based on the DK books, is there a particular story arc that this is going to be based on? Just wondering, the comic book nerd in me was curious.

Re: Christian Bale is Batman I can't freaking wait for this movie to come out. Everyone has said it is really good. I love Christian Bale and any movie with Gary Oldman in it is definitely worth seeing.
