Love fish and chips. Hate mushy peas. By the way (since all threads must have a food based distraction), best fish and chips in southern England: Yorkshire Fisheries 67-69 Fisherton Street, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP2 7SU01722 325249 In case you are ever out to see Stonehenge and have some time before your train arrives (right near the station).
Ahh but what bitter? London Pride is brilliant, but ESB is better. And what about Greene King? Or Wells Bombardier?
ale and bitter>>>> i love me some london pride/bombadier/newcastle brown u american guys like the ale and bitter over here? our lager/beer is equally as shit as yours though, i never really tried any american ale but i hear it's nice
American ales are usually around 3-4%abv stronger than engilsh, and have a much more aggressive hop profile. British ales are more malty/smooth. I love both. Plus we dont have enough cask conditioned ales over here. Oh yeah, also, Cesc's my homie.
I love Spitfire! Tried it at Black Friars just because the tap seemed cool (my method of choice when I know few of the beers on tap) and absolutely loved it.
I found out something interesting. American beer is bad for a historical reason. During prohibition the beer was watered down to increase the profits in speakeasies. When prohibition ended, brewers were quite happy to keep making the more profitable watered down beers to which Americans had become accustomed so the watery crap stuck. And yes, we do like your bitters (at least I do). Boddingtons (called Pub Ale here but Draught Bitter domestically) being my favorite.
There's plenty of good beer in America! Don't get wrapped up in the macrobrews. In fact, read my blog about it! http://thedryhopper.blogspot.com
yeah, boddingtons is cool man one day im gonna come over and visit u arsenal bretherins and we will get a proper ale sesh going
Have to say, the Globe is where you need to go for that session. And yeah, American macro beer sucks. But this country is drawning in good craft beer these days. I wonder what beer Cesc drinks.
According to the Daily Mail, Cesc has to told Wenger he's staying, for now. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1300662/Cesc-Fabregas-Im-staying-Arsenal--Barcelona-lose-battle.html
I completely agree that we have made strides but the divergence from the big breweries and their hop and barley urine is recent. I am in the midst of a deep and abiding love affair with Magic Hat so I would never disparage all brews with a "Made in the USA" sticker.
When talking about beer in the US, you just have to treat AB, Miller, Coors, etc as if they don't even exist. Once you stop thinking about them as "American beer", there's lots of wonderful stuff here. Best thing that ever happened at Crew Stadium (off the pitch, at least) was when they tapped Goose Island IPA on the east concourse (except at the last match they didn't have any ). Before that I had to walk all the way around to the other side to the one place that had drinkable beers.
Maybe I'm only seeing what I think I should, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a picture of a sullen Cesc before, outside of after tough losses. The pictures do little to make me think his heart will be in it this year. I guess we'll see.
wait, the THREE pictures in that article make you think his heart isn't going to be in it? Please explain.
