Use this11.com for tactics for football Vamos, CHILE!
Agreed on Silva. He does not excel, but gets the job done in a line of 3 (e.g. vs. Germany in preparatory 2014 WC friendly & vs. Spain in 2014 WC). The only excuse that I'd accept from the coaching staff would be that he has not gotten a lot of game time at club level. If given the option of Silva or Rojas, though, I'd pick Silva without hesitation. I think that Albornoz has the tools, but he hasn't been exposed to a central defensive role enough. He seems to be more confident on either flank as a full-back.
I think that this is Albornoz's strong point if considered for that role. In that sense, I wouldn't care too much if he doesn't pass it out of the backline, as long as he can pick out a team-mate with a short pass or if he blasts it out of the defensive zone in a dangerous situation.
It seemed like an offside goal, to me. The run from Aránguiz is onside, but it appears as though the play is offside as soon as the ball comes off the post; the keeper had not touched it at that point, either.
Potential onside goal to Vargas dismissed as offside in the 49th; maybe, the officials have tried to compensate for the decision on the first goal.
When this midfield clicks, it works quite well. Valdivia subbed in the 80th; played well, and did what he was expected to do. Alexis needs a rest.
He's been very poor this cup IMO. Started decently in the group stages but has been fading as we wen't along. Completely anonymous today. I hope for Chile's sake he's saving the best for last.
Peru shook us from the start of the second half. We did look lazy, but worked our way back into it. I think that that assessment would be fair. The midfield lifted in the last 35 minutes. How do you guys rate our midfield compared to the rest of the teams in the competition? I'd say that it's one of the best at this point. Even Pizarro impressed me, to be honest, in the last 30. He still has it; turns guys inside out and knows how to pick out a long pass.
Burro.
Rojas, Albornoz and Díaz were not at the level required. Alexis, we already knew about. I think Albornoz is a player for the future. He needs to build confidence. I remember when Beau first started out many years ago, he did not have many fans, and he gradually made his presence count after Bielsa showed some belief in him. I'd say that it's been that kind of event. No team has impressed, really.
