I couldn't find the original post, so I thought I'd start another one. Anyone up for Ginger's Ale House for the Chelsea game?
It seems that people have switched over to the Globe Pub on Irving and Damen. I haven't been back to Gingers for some time now, going on years. I think one of the co-owners at Gingers had some sort of falling out and started the Globe. And most of the Fire and European football patrons seemed to follow suit. My only fault about the Globe is that there was a cool waitress who worked on Sundays in '05 but was some sort of agnomist during the week. When I came back from my trip to Europe, she no longer worked there...alas. But hey, if that's the worst of it, it can't be too bad. I heard that Gary, one of the Chicago Gooners, became a part time owner. So, you should probably go to the Globe.
Not a Gooner, but I may make the trip for the Chelsea game and cheer on Arsenal for a couple of hours.
Thanks to a fluke of a year-end schedule and the ticket-acquiring prowess of some chap named "Rick" I'm actually going to be attending both games. Flying out tonight, if the football gods and mother nature are willing!
good luck getting out. hope your flight has left already! and I might not make it on saturday morning. depends on the snow really. the brown line stop around the corner is going to be closed for renovations for the weekend and if there is a foot of snow in the alley, getting my car out of the garage is going to be next to impossible and I don't feel like forking over a round trip cab fare.
See, this is the good thing about riding a bicyle year round: easy to get places, usually takes the same or less time, door-to-door, AND ample parking everywhere....!
is the irving stop going to be closed for some time, or is it just this weekend? as if getting up at 6:30am (on a saturday) and fully expecting a draw at best, isn't bad enough with the brown line stop closed.
excuses, excuses. We got about 3 inches of snow in the city Dan. Don't make me drive down there and pick your ********** ass out of bed.
I believe that Dan is referring to the Sedgwick stop in his posh neighborhood. Irving Park remains open. And all these train problems make the North side feel just a bit like London.
Rick's too nice...especially getting to the match 15 minutes into the half. I would leave without the f'ers.
He is too nice but that is why we love him! We just missed our bacon sammiches...not part of the match.....that is just rude.
Yep, I'll be at the Tavern at 9 am to make sure I don't miss him if need be, just to be sure. I can keep myself occupied. lol. Luckily we made it out last night...sounds like chaos there today. cheers and Up The Globe!
amazing what 10 years can do to a place, right!??!?!? the alley looked ok this morning, i should be there, baring too much beer tonight.
No excuses Dan! It's the Scum. I'm already home so i can get in some sleep for tomorrow. Need to put this bottle of wine away though. And Matt! I haven't seen you all season. We need to get the Globe Choir back in tune.
