Midway is physically closer to downtown. Both airports are serviced by the El (the Orange line goes to Midway; the Blue line goes to O'Hare). Soldier Field is not serviced by the El -- the closest any El line comes to Soldier Field is either stations in the Loop (several, including Orange Line), or Roosevelt Avenue (Red Line). Since either way you're gonna be walking or taking a bus for the last bit, and the difference in time into the city isn't huge, your decision should really just be on the basis of which one will be cheaper. Oh, after your trip to Columbus, this might matter to some of you: there's a White Castle just outside Midway, on Cicero!!! (very envious you guys went to the WC Lounge, I am)
