http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A43247-2005Jan27.html That picture really makes me laugh for some reason, although it really shouldn't.
These quotes are classic: "he was wearing an olive drab parka with a fur-trimmed hood. It is embroidered with his name. It reminded one of the way in which children's clothes are inscribed with their names before they are sent away to camp. And indeed, the vice president looked like an awkward boy amid the well-dressed adults. " "the vice president was wearing a hat. But it was not a fedora or a Stetson or a fur hat or any kind of hat that one might wear to a memorial service as the representative of one's country. Instead, it was a knit ski cap, embroidered with the words "Staff 2001." It was the kind of hat a conventioneer might find in a goodie bag. "
It reminds me of the Sesame Street song, during the days that my kids would watch endlessly. "One of these things isn't the same as the others, One of these things just doesn't belong...."
Everyone else there has got those russky hats and outfits - certainly an old-timer like Cheney would be a brave iconoclast instead? And anyway, whn you're that old, and with that bad a ticker, the rules of fashion should no longer apply - at least in a freezing snowstorm.
[Sesame Street]~~~one of these things is not like the other, one of these just ain't quite the same...~~~[/Sesame Street]
He looks like an idiot and represented America in a manner that is sure to make this country look that much better in the eyes of everyone else. What, were all his suits and the dress coat he wore just a week ago at the cleaners?
He doesn't seem to be as good at pretending to care as the others. You need to wear the proper uniform to appear to be solemn.
Oh, come on. He looks like crap! That said, I've gotta think that there are some sort of extenuating circumstances because I know he knows better than that.
the first sure sign that you're off the path... plain and simple, it's downright disrespectful to show at such an occasion in such a manner - you know it, i know it
Very disrespectful. I mean, would you wear that outfit to a funeral?? I highly doubt it. I agree with BarbaraJune though, there has to be more to this. I can't imagine Lynne letting him out of the house like that.
