We hit the post 3 different times. He had more passes. We had more expected goals. We actually scored more goals.

Wow. Only their second loss of the season in all comps, right? Was Gilmour really that good?

Yep, looked a proper pro today. Big tackles, set the tempo, just all around a great midfield performance.

he's obviously earned his 1st team place on merit. at this point i wouldn't have any problems with him in the starting line up more. he's like a less attacking version of david silva.

i'd be interested in seeing what a midfield Kovacic, RLC, and Gilmour would be like.

Jorgy is out for 3 matches, RLC not back at full fitness and Kante still hurt. The next 3 games are only CMs are Kova, Barkley, Mount and Gilmour. He will get a chance. RLC might see some some spot minutes or sub minutes but wouldn’t expect a full 90 from him any time soon.

Kova went off hurt with a confirmed Achilles injury. Our midfield this weekend is likely Gilmour, Barkley, RLC out of necessity.

Encouraging result and good for billy the kid. Fingers crossed the injuries aren't too bad.

Also managed to find one of those fa cup 50th anniversary kits at the nike store today so picked that up to celebrate (my excuse and I'm sticking to it). Its really nice, one of the best in many years. Strong recommendation.

Damn that’s rough. I saw he went off just not the extent of it. I suspect Mount starts over RLC but RLC would be the only sub option there. Rough.

awful on Kov for him and he may have been our most key player and mf last couple of months; getting scan tomorrow but was walkiunk ok, hopefully promising

#Kovacic confirmed, while walking through the #CFC mixed zone after the win over #LFC, that he will have a scan on his injury on Wednesday. He doesn’t know how serious the problem is.

Simon Johnson of the Athletic Tweeted the above from the mixed zone at Stamford Bridge, which is pretty inconclusive but doesn’t sound great. The fact he was walking without any visible treatment or discomfort is a good sign however, and we just hope that the tough former Real Madrid man can recover in a few days and be ready to take on Everton this weekend.

Kovacic has been our most consistent player this season. He just needs to shoot more at goal and he can do it. He can score goals, I believe he can. We need him fit.

I am a not as down on Jorghino as some others around here. But he has needed a rest for a while and with injuries to others like Kante he hasn't got it. Jorghino was better earlier in the season. He is a great motivator and communicator with the players around him. He is a sublime penalty taker.

Billy Gilmour. The new dennis wise? A throwback?

“What an incredible performance for a young player,” Lampard told the BBC. “He was a calm head in that first five or 10 minutes. He’s a throwback of a midfielder.

“Can you put your foot in? Yes. Can you make angles to play the passes? Yes. He’s only slight in stature but he’s huge in personality. He deserves people to talk about him after a performance like that.”

at least it is away phewww...;)

we got the toughest match-up of the bigger sides but then again i think we are better against the bigger come out and play sides (and no Manure is no longer a big side despite being our jinx side)
