Ham on Rye and post office are good. Post Office is really good and funny.

    I like Bukowski's pomes.

What you do is just go to the library and grab all the Bukowski you can and careen through it.

I've seen it written 'Bukovski' - particularly because the 'w' is said as a 'v'...

I think Bukowski is cool tho, not an 'important' writer.

Taking a leisurly stroll around some of his old haunts in San Pedro and LA does add a lot to his words for me.

San Pedro's kinda classic. Seaport, breathtaking views on the hill, slums aplenty, mixed race city, all sitting next to the mega-wealth of Palos Verdes.

Bukowski lead the hard life and made some weird sense of it all. He depresses me after a while tho. Better read with a 1/5 of Jack and some weed.

LA Weekly and LA Times usually have a piece each year about some aspect of his life.

Every few years his career seems to resusicate itself with the praise of young 20's hipsters around LA/Long Beach. However you feel about his writing there's no mistaking the fact that he is a major figure among the hip cognescenti.

I've read several of his books and think he was dynamic. Hard life though, as previously pointed out.
