Bringing on Pedro instead of Pul looks like a mistake. Need to have someone with the ability to run in behind, and Pedro is dropping too deep to make that happen currently.
They’re sitting fairly deep and gambling we don’t have the quality to break them down. Based on what I’ve seen so far, they’re mostly right. That said, we’re considerably more likely to grab a goal than they are as this stands. I wish Zouma were more mobile.
Yep. They seem to struggle more with Willian's runs than they do with the little passes they comfortably snuff out. Think it will take a set piece to crack them. Something of an old school Willian effort in that first half which is encouraging for the squad as a whole. Fingers crossed Pulisic gets some minutes and is able to showcase what he is capable of.
They said Pedro hasn't played for a month and, to my eye, he has the look of a man that hasn't played for a month. Hopefully he'll get more into the groove as the game goes on.
I hope Mount is ok, and you can tell that he didn't want to come off. Wondering what Pulisic has to do to get some minutes. Bringing on a 32 year old who hasn't played in a month is odd.
Sloppy stuff from jorg and pedro to give away possession and a free kick. Would prefer we dont make their lives easier than they need to be.
Giroud coming on? Slightly odd sub, especially in what looks to be a fairly open game. I’d have thought you’d want Tammy’s (or Michy’s) speed? Oh, it’s for Zouma. Wow.
Kova got completely sold on that move, another dangerous set piece given up and a goal for them. Great.
Lol, Pedro just dribbled more half the width of the pitch. Another chapter to his autobiography- “Dribbling sideways, the Pedro story”.
Given where Pulisic plays for the US, not playing him from the start was a mistake, but then subbing in Pedro was just bizarre.
Losing mount early was a blow but it was compounded by introducing, and not replacing, pedro. Feels like this was there for the taking and given the turmoil at valencia, should have been easier than it has been. 10 mins to rescue this.
Speaking as a BVB supporter for all my life and watching players grow in Dortmund every weekend for the last 47 years...Pulisic could have done damage to Valencia. I don't know what he is (isn't) showing in training but wow, Frank. Really?
This is a ridiculous process for var. Should be no more than 30 seconds and settled by a 4th official. Oh ross, you really better be sure.
