Re: Miami MLS franchise This thread will be merged in 3, 2, 1... Seriously though, it would be nice if both teams came back, but I don't think they should come back at the same time. However, I don't see them in the next line of expansion... I haven't heard about anything here in Tampa of bringing the team back (i.e. investors, stadiums, anything). Can't speak for Miami either.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] What kills me is that the USL is based out of Tampa and we don't even have a USL team! What's up with that?!
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] Not to wanting to throw more cold water onto the hopes for an MLS team in Florida, but I think everyone should know that the Legislature has severely limited the ability for municipalities to raise funds for any public spending. Unless any future MLS owners want to pony up all of the money for a SSS, MLS expansion is pretty much dead.
Re: Miami MLS franchise Horsecrap. Tampa yes. Miami no. Everytime you post it, the point becomes clearer to me. Miami averaged under 10,000 fans more often than the Quakes. The only time fans came to see them was when they were winning.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] I really can't wait for the day for Atlanta and Florida to have teams in MLS...y'all should try to get your own forum.
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] This is a letter a got from the city councilman of St. Pete: It is certainly something I will bring up when discussing the fate of Al Lang. We have always had nice support for soccer in this area. When I was in high school, we all used to go to Tampa Bay Rowdy games in Tampa, and they played indoor at the old Bayfront. There probably would be a lot of support, but it would have to carry its own on the money side and that could be problematic. I will keep you posted
Re: Miami MLS franchise I agree that Tampa/St.Pete is going to attract a lot more fans then Miami. I hope both Cities get a team though. P.S. How come I cannot post in the European teams forums? do I need more posts or do I need to upgrade my account?
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] if chelsea were to own a team, the whole thing would be ruined for me
Re: Florida Superthread [Part 2] So, we don't have Drew Carey to bring us a team... what Florida celebrities can we wish to bring a team... off the top of my head: Orlando - N'Sync, Backstreet Boy - Not sure Orlando soccer fans would want that, and I'm not too sure they are even soccer fans. There is Wayne Brady and Tiger Woods.... once again, are they soccer fans? Tampa - Hulk Hogan? Gallagher? *Sigh* Sometimes it's hard to live in Tampa Miami - The Rock! Don Johnson! Gloria Estefan and Marc Anthony! Vanilla Ice... oh, wait, forget that last one (and, well, the second one as well!) Jacksonville - Pat Boone... uhhh.... Fred Durst.... ummmm ... Sorry J-Ville, best of luck to ya!
