You know, I'm normally perfectly okay with, no, celebrate the differences between American and British English. But the British are completely wrong with the fries/chips thing. Potato chips (or what the Brits call "crisps") are called so because they're chip-shaped. French fries look nothing like poker chips, paint chips or CHiPs. Of course, "french fries" is a misnomer as well but at least they're fried and of francophone origin.
Don't make me pull length of language usage rank on you, sonny jim. They were chips long before you lot came along and messed it all up.
Poutine is a french canadian delight and does not do particularly well outside of Quebec and francophone parts of Ontario. In the coming full circle category, the clown who leads the canadian conservative party was ranting yesterday to the effect that the gay marriage legislation is designed to appease the seperatist Bloc Quebecois and that most "federalist" MPS were against it. This explains in part why, despite the current minority governement being involved in one of - if not the - largest corruption scandals in Canadian history, the Conservative party is actually losing public support in the polls. Poutine = Quebec = Seperatists = Gay Marriage. Or, more simply, Poutine = Gay Marriage.
Close but wrong. Once the USA reaches intellectual maturity it may be considered as the 11th province. That hasn’t happened in 200 years and another 200 years probably won’t be enough.
The day America reaches intellectual maturity is the day Canadians stop invading South Florida during the winter.

What a pity those who call themselves Catholic aren't catholic cath·o·lic (kăth'ə-lĭk, kăth'lĭk) adj.
