I'm taking a lot of abuse for it too. Something about sporting sacrilege
Not the best kind of sacrilege, but it'll have to do.
I need to be a mod on that board.
When adding Atlanta, please use the full name, Atlanta United FC.
Do you still need a list of updates?
Besides Sacramento Republic FC and Minnesota United, other NASL/USL additions are:
Colorado Springs Switchbacks
Arizona United FC
Orange County Blues
Louisville City FC
OKC Energy FC
Saint Louis FC
I think thats it for USL/NASL. Besides maybe the MLS affiliates. You might also want to add LAFC why you are at it.
Club de Cuervos
Let's focus on the real issue and the real solution.
The real issue: the list should be ditched because it's needless and basically unworkable.
The real solution: posters should be able to fill in the name of any team they like.
The best thing to do would be to implement the system I described in an earlier post in this thread.
Have you been able to look into that idea @dark knight?
None of us on this end like the current system either. We have recommended it several times to the folks who might be able to lead the change.
This is on my to do list.
Let us know if you need beta testers.
Will user-defined teams ever be implemented?
If not, could I please have Nojima Stella Kanagawa?
I here F.C. Carl Zeiss Jena is a nice club....
Could you please add FC Astra Giurgiu from the Romanian Liga 1 into the list?
I think there should be a moratorium on any new additions.
It's a waste of energy that would be better spent toward replacing the system entirely.
Indeed, I still can't understand why the system hasn't simply been scrapped and replaced with a system like the location entry, which lets you type whatever you want.
A drop-down makes absolutely no sense. As said, it made sense at one point, but since the rest of it was abandoned a long time ago, the list is obsolete.
As a programmer, I do not understand why it is so difficult to add teams to the list. Should be as simple as just having a text field, type in the name, press save, and viola new team added to the database. I also do not understand why it is taking to long to implement the ability for users to type in their own team. In neither case should it take more than a half hour to hour of work.
I'm not sure they even need a database...just 3-4 blank entry fields and you're good to go. That's what they had at one point.
Well it is all going into a database no matter what, it is just one way there is a database containing a list of pre-approved teams, and in the other there is just a string associated with a column of data in a database that people get to fill in on their own.
My guess is they are concerned about what some ppl might put in there with a blank field.
Like location? I hate that my favorite club says "other"
Treat it the same as a regular post. Easy enough.
or change your location to favorite team, like me
You're at the matches more often than not, right? It makes sense!
Since we're now four months away from joining MLS, could someone please make another attempt to add Minnesota United FC. Maybe just change NSC Minnesota Stars, since that no longer exists.
I have a better idea: as discussed for years, let's kill this dumb menu system once and for all.
Weren't you going to look into finally doing this @dark knight?
