can metros run the table to get 1 st. place seeding for playoffs?

Tonights game vs. L.A. and 2 games with D.C., 1 vs N.E. and one other match with Dallas. I think its possible to win all of them and gain momentum for the playoffs. it may not be easy and the metros have had very little consistansy this season. Dallas is tough and playing a team like DC so many times may hurt a bit...but the reward for winning the remaining games would go a long way to doing well in the playoffs. GO METROSTARS !!!

We can run the table all right. We'll just be running in the wrong direction.

The Metros game plan (if you can call it that) reminds me of a Simpsons episode:

Coach HomerOZ: "OK, Williams, you vibrate that way. Diallo you spin in a circle and fall down. Mathis Vibrate backwards. Davis, you're cut. Chrono, Ziadie, Paule, you're all cut. Petke, you're cut. Byron, you're our new star striker."

Byron Alvarez: "But coach, I suck!"

Tim Howard: "He really does suck, sir."

After last night's win over Dallas, if Metros run the table, they will still need a little help from the Screw to win the division and #2 seed.

Metros are 2 goals behind the Screw in the tie-breaker. So Metros need to end up with a better differential or hope the Screw don't run the table too.

Metros have a much better remaining schedule than the Screw:

Metro v Scum, Scum v Metro, Rev v Metro
Screw v SJ, Screw v Fire, Fire v Screw

Metros have 2 away games and they lead the league in away record. They also play their last 3 vs the 2 bottom feeders.

Screw play their last 3 vs 2 division contenders.

Then again, the Fire can sneak past both teams. But they also play their last 3 vs 2 division contenders (home to Galaxy being the other team).

Columbus and Chicago both lost last night, which means the Metros can takeover sole position of first place with a win over DC next Thursday at the Swamp. If the Metros are gonna make any serious run for the MLS Cup they need to win the division first. A first round series versus San Jose or LA spells disaster. With Ramos,Mathis and Diallo fit the Metros need to play with spirit and up to their level of ability. We are tied for first place with a game in hand. OZ needs to stop tinkering with the lineup and play Mathis and Diallo up front. Give Tab Ramos 90minutes and play Akwari over Chronopoulus.

While getting a "first place" seeding is important and nice, it is only secondary. The primary reason for wanting to finish in first place is to "win the division" which represents a complete season accomplishment over your regional rivals.

We should be able to do it. You should also point out that DC lost a do or die calsh last night. So basically they're gone. The revs should be a little difficult, but we can beat them.

    The good:

We're facing the 2 worst teams in MLS.

    The bad:

One has nothing to lose and the other is fighting for its playoff life.

    The ugly:

We play on chewed up pitch at home and we suck there. If we get the 2nd seed, we play more home than away until the Cup (like we'll get there). God knows where we're going to play anyway? But I guess I can't complain.

See, home field advantage might not be a bad thing. Sure we have a lousy home record, but maybe that has more to do with GS than anything else. If the home playoff games can't be played there, it might just work itself out.

I think you can also lose and miss out on the play-offs!

So far this season I don't like Mathis and Diallo together up top. They don't play well together and there isn't enough service from the midfield for the pair of them. On the other hand, if Ramos and Williams are both playing well in the midfield, that might change. So, who knows? Still, I'd rather see either Mathis-Faria or Diallo-Faria up top. Maybe, like last game, we can see both configurations. Since both Mamadou and Clint seem to lose steam toward the end of the game, that might be the solution.

we've won a divisional title already ,that was "nice". Getting the best seeding possible for the "Race For The Cup" is what we're after now! But hey thats just this guys opinion.
