Positives: Moutinho and Andre Silva are gone

However, why is neto called? Does he even have a goal or an assist this season (Mendes quota?). Surely Carmo/Antonio/Inacio are better centrebacks than Danilo? I have never seen Tiago Djalo play so I wont comment on his selection.

No Goncalo Ramos callup is also weird.

To be perfectly fair about the centerbacks, Inacio and Carmo have been underwhelming so far this season. But then again even if they were in good form, they wouldn't get called up because Fernando Santos calls up players on reputation rather than form.

Carvalho is good enough to start for Liverpool but not good enough for Portugal?

    Guerreiro? Jota? Neto? Mario?

Meh, this banana hasn’t learnt his lesson and we will go out in the 4th round as usual.

    Danilo can Play DM too.

Ramos has been good, although he should be a bit more efficient.

Agree there are question marks on those 4 players, still early for Carvalho.

I was blindsided by the abomination that is the World Cup jersey so the call-ups didn't really register with me.

I will say this however: Ronaldo is finished at the top level. If he were any other player I doubt he would be in the squad.

What's to question about Guerreiro's inclusion? Who would you have ahead of him?

Good question, we're not exactly strong in that position but Guerreiro adds nothing, and always makes defensive mistakes.

I'd rather Cancelo play LB and have Mendes or Dalot at RB. Both of these guys haven't convinced me either mind you. Dias hasn't been in form either so our defence is our weakness.

He needs to be capped so he doesn't play for Brazil.

I do not even like Guerreiro but even I think in terms of being a backup thats a very good one to have.

Guerreiro and Mendes are a great LB pairing. Needlessly playing Cancelo on the left and having Dalot start at RB, who is easily the worst out of the four, is a terrible idea.

Since these games as so close to the world cup, this is probably for the most part the team he takes. Doesn't look promising.

Why not bring R. Sanches? Is he not fit? Rather have him over J. Mario.

Other than Neto and maybe Danilo, they all deserve to be there

Anthony lopes went from the waiting for Patricio to retire to becoming 4th choice

That's a shame, he's been on fire to start the season. He had a good chance to make the World Cup squad.

I didn't recognize it before, but why does Pedro Neto get a call-up over Carvalho, Trincao, Ramos, Pote, etc?

This makes zero sense. A really dumb move for his career.

Unless he has AIDs, there's no excuse.

Rumour going around that the FPF used him as a scapegoat after the poor Euro performance.

    This is his payback.

he knows he's going to sit on the bench anyway, like all the other tournaments he's been to
