I take it that you did not bother to actually look at the ballet.
That would have answered your question in less than 5 seconds, less than the time needed to write your question.

Yes, and it took about 5 seconds to find it in that morass of humanity.

    Feel free to Google her.
You can do it at work at your own risk.

By the way, she placed 10th out of the 135 candidates.

Wow, that brings back memories. I think the Democrats lost it for Davis when Bustamante decided to run. I bet you this time they'll stay more disciplined and focused on supporting Newsom. It helps that he is much more popular than Davis was.

I wonder if Arianna will run this time.

FiveThirtyEight said that Newsom doesn't want other great Democrats to run so Democrats who want a different Democrat to be governor won't vote to recall. On the other hand, Democratic leaders want other great Democrats so if Newsom is recalled another Democrat will win. FiveThirtyEight said there is a long process:

    1. Signature deadline was in March
    2. Signatures were counted, a small percent were rejected, and it was announced that there were enough. The requirement is 12 percent of the amount of votes in the last gubernatorial election for all candidates.
    3. Newsom and his supporters can attempt to convince people who signed to change their mind. The deadline for this is June 8 or 9 (I don't remember). The amount of signatures exceeds the minimum by enough that it would be very surprising if enough people changed their minds to not have a recall election.
    4. The California Board of Finance has 30 business days to evaluate the cost of the recall election.
    5. The legislature has 30 business days to analyze what the Board of Finance says.
    6. The lieutenant governor sets a date 60 to 80 days later, which would be October or November. I'm sure it would be cheaper to do it on Election Day than a couple of weeks earlier or later.

The amount of House seats can estimate what percent of the country something applies to. So far the federal and state elections on Election Day are governor of New Jersey (12 House seats), governor of Virginia (11 House seats), and 2 special House elections in Ohio for a total of 25. 25 of 435 is very small. If California (53 House seats but I'm counting it as 52 because that's what they will have next time) has a recall election on Election Day, it makes 77 House seats, which is 18 percent of the country. If you add mayor of New York City, it makes over 20 percent.

The recall election will be on September 14, which is earlier than October or November that I posted above.

If it gets the governor and the legislature to reevaluate some of their priorities then it might be worth something. But I don't see that happening.

Two polls show a slight lead to not recall, and one poll shows 51 percent to recall and 40 percent to keep. Considering Republicans did better than their polls last year, Newsom should be worried. If he is recalled, polls show talk show host Larry Elder with a big lead. He is an African-American Republican. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...and_lieutenant_governors_in_the_United_States says there have been four African-American governors, and the only Republican was P.B.S. Pinchback, who was governor of Louisiana for 35 days during Reconstruction, and Republicans supported African-American rights then. The current minority governors are Okinawan-American David Ige of Hawaii, Salvadoran-American Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Mexican-American Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico, and Native American (Cherokee) Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma. All of those states have low populations as they total 12 House seats. Becoming governor of California would make Elder join Justice Clarence Thomas (who could break the record for longest tenure on the Supreme Court) and Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina as the most important African-American Republicans in government.

    Up in the skyway
Newsom really hasn’t helped himself out since he’s been on the hot seat. Getting caught maskless with lobbyists at a fancy french restaurant while he was imposing lockdowns is what really got the ball rolling on this recall fiasco. Absolute bogus horseshit reason to recall someone, but still, no need to feed the maga hats amunition.

Most recently he let the parole of a guy who murdered a disabled man stand. This is the type of shit that a lot of liberals may think about when casting their vote. I can’t imagine them picking anyone from the garbage heap of GOP candidates, but still, why risk it.

He’s done about as well as he could with the pandemic response but I fear a low dem voter turnout may be his undoing.
