-- -- -- I threatened to start this thread, and now here it is! As you surely know, ever since Trump's election, California has been busy preparing itself to lead the Trump resistance. And it's not just that silly #CalExit stuff. No, there's serious action at every level of government out here. I wanted to have a place to post and discuss California's Trump resistance efforts, which are already well underway. I was reading lots of things on particulars that might have been worth posting about, but I didn't have a good background article to post as an opener. Then -- EUREKA -- I saw this: California v. Trump: The Fight Begins for Health Care, Immigration and the Future of America By Alexander Nazaryan, Newsweek This long article lays pretty much everything out in admirably comprehensive fashion. They even dug up Joel Kotkin to get a quote accusing the Democrats in California of being Stalinist. (We'll see how long he believes that after we throw him in a reeducation camp!) It's hard to pick out just one quote from the article, and given its catalogical nature, the piece doesn't really lend itself to that sort of thing. But this conveys the overall spirit: There will be some interesting times ahead, and several California politicians will become national names. Not just the ones you know already like Jerry Brown, Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom. California's new Attorney General, Xavier Becerra, will be one to watch -- and perhaps also Kevin de Leon and Anthony Rendon, both leaders in the state legislature. For an enterprising California politician, the Trump resistance could even be a legitimate launching pad for a presidential run in 2020. I've been telling you jokers that California is the most important state in the union, but few of you have ever wanted to believe me. For the Trump resistance, however, it certainly is the most important of the 50 states. So like it or not, you're gonna be hearing about it! -- Viva La Resistance --
I was thinking when I saw this, that there should be a California flag with a different cartoony bear, and sure enough, someone already made one. Of course, this one is my favorite:
Yeah, NY is interesting too with Cuomo, Di Blasio and Schneiderman ... And of course Schumer at the top of the Senate. If Democrats have any chance of winning the House in 2018, there needs to be a big wave in NY, picking up as much as 5 seats in that state alone.
If you arrest the surviving Eagles and fine Dodgers fans $500 every time they leave a close game in the 7th inning, then I'll consider throwing in with California-stan.
There can't be too many threads about California, because we are the specialest snowflake of a state. You clearly haven't ever been stuck in the Dodgers parking lot at the end of a game. But I can go with you on the Eagles thing - they should be handed over to the UN for crimes against humanity. (Or what rslfanboy just posted.)
I like this congressman ... Rep. Ted Lieu is trolling Donald Trump, and he hopes you're watching Plus, he's willing to swear on his Twitter account. Was charged $2.99 for coffee listed at $2.59. That's why I have trust issues. Oh, and the fact that @seanspicer at #WhiteHouse makes shit up— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) January 23, 2017
Repped for the Dodgers comment, haven't been to a game there since the 80's but remember that ordeal well. Though my favorite time I saw a game there I went with a friend, his dad, and his dad's friend. And after the game ended the two adults sat in their chairs for like an hour, while we went all over the stadium searching for money and stuff that had fallen out of people's pockets. At the time I thought they were waiting for traffic to die down, but at some point in my adult life I had an epiphany: They were ********ing shitfaced and waiting as long as possible to drive home. Good times....
I did that at a Metrostars match. On top of the 8 beers or so I drank, on the way in I was handed a Blithering Idiot. I sank it in about 30 seconds. The match KO'd at 7:30Pm. I finally made my home around 11:00PM. I even dropped a cup full of Guinness that night.
Why is everyone dissing the Eagles? I could understand if it were the Pittsburgh Stealers...but Philadelphia! They never hurt anyone.
