If, by Wednesday night, the chairman of the 1922 Committee is in receipt of 25 names, I will seek to win a vote of confidence in my leadership." I have to wonder why he didn't just resign instead of going through this humiliation.
The Conservative party is completely ungovernable with the back-stabbing and whispering that goes on, and I love it. I was watching it on BBC, with Huw Edwards (he's Welsh, but the housewives love him), and it was interesting to watch. I think Michael Howard, former Home secretary under John Major who had 'something of the night about him' according to Anne Widdecombe MP is now leader. I have to say the scenes when the Tory MP's were clapping were surreal, as most had probably voted against him. If I was in the position of IDS now, my speach would be something like 'f_ck you all you back-stabbing f_ckers, I'm going home. I'm the best shag you've never had.' And I'd be wearing one of those gold shiny suits and come out with the Cheeky girls waving pom-poms when I came out of Conservative Central office. By the way, I'll be voting for the Lib Dem's next election, as I did in the last election, which was my first.
