a little on the older side. I want to see us get younger players to develop further and integrate into the team and become our future. I wouldn't complain if we got him... Hopeful we get Ginter...
The dude is a fighter. Boateng almost killed him and he carried on. 7 million is a good deal for him. Good dribbler.
Valbuena wouldn't be a fit for our squad. He's a fine attacking midfielder because of his vision and creativity but he loses the ball far too often. This basically means we'll be highly suceptible to counterattacks from high; while this isn't dangerous, we don't need this at all. Unfortunately he doesn't fight to win the ball back either. He's 29 and wasn't all that impressive at the WC. In short he's not a player that would fit our footballing philosophy. I support and am a strong proponent of us getting a bonafide no. 10, a trequartista in the mould of Rui Costa or Riquelme. But at the same time he should either not lose the ball often or should have the defensive acumen to try and get it back. The latter is a major attribute of counterpressing.
You are thinking about a James Rodriguez. I am thinking about a young player with potential. Somebody with the same profile as Milos Jojic.
Juan Quintero could be that guy..but porto had him so it's going to be a tad over prices and lack defensive qualities
Not necessarily a prospect. A young player (18-22) who is proven in almost any top league but unknown because he's never been on any big stage. When I said in the mould of...I meant somebody with the same attributes, not somebody with the same accomplishments. LOL.
Yes. He'd be a good candidate. But you are right. He's owned by Porto and they won't let him go for cheap because they know his potential. I don't know about his defensive qualities. If he's just lazy and doesn't press that is something Jurgen Klopp can work with. If he's positionally incapable or inconsistent that would be a lot harder to overcome. But hey's he's only 21.
Yeah, Porto always bends their customers over backwards, and sometimes for some pretty average players. That's alright for big, stupid clubs or nouveau rich clubs, who have money flowing out of their ears, but for prudent, well-run clubs, not the right fit. Wouldn't make a habit of doing business with them. That being said, I think Quintero's a great talent, and wouldn't mind seeing him at Dortmund at some point.
In other news LvG made a list of players hes looking to get rid of, which includes kagawa. Would be interesting to see whats gonna happen now
