http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=1963&e=17&u=/afp/20041027/ts_alt_afp/us_vote_hawaii Not that I think Bush'll pick up Hawaii...but wow. I would've figured Hawaii was as safe for Kerry as Massachussetts is. This is like Kerry pulling ahead in Alaska.
I was kinda shocked to see that. Hopefully it won't matter, but every electoral vote it huge this year.
A few weeks ago a few polls had Kerry and Bush in a dead heat in MD, and even Bush pulling ahead. Now its back to normal with kerry up significantly.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A450-2004Oct26.html West Virginia and Arkansas have also become battleground states, potentially going to Kerry.
The new poll only sampled Oahu, which tends to vote more republican than the rest of the state. The August poll was statewide. Still closer than Kerry would like, as Gore carried Oahu by 15.
That phrase "Bush pulls ahead..." will be used a lot next Tuesday evening...Hawaii is but one of 50! (OK.. one of 49... I am giving Kerry Massachusetts even though I know Western Massachusetts hates Kerry)! IntheNet Bush/Cheney in 2004
this is obviously a ploy by a pollster trying to get increased time on the ground in Hawaii ... not a bad gig.
