Ventura County Fusion will be hosting newly promoted Burnley FC of the English Premiere League. Burnley, who won promotion to the Premier League on May 25th by defeating Sheffield United in the League Championship Final at Wembley Stadium, are set to return to top flight of the world's most demanding professional league after an absence of 33 years. The club was a founding member of the English Football League and in 120 years since then has won almost every major English trophy. In the recently ended 2008-2009 campaign, Burnley defeated both Arsenal and Chelsea in the English League Cup. Burnley is visiting Ventura in preparation for the new Barclay's Premier League season which opens in England just over three weeks later. Burnley's squad will train at the Limoneira Fields in Santa Paula from July 16th to 24th in a deal arranged with Ventura County Fusion, the region's leading soccer club, before heading north to play Portland Timbers of the USL Division one. Fusion will be playing Burnley on July 21st at 7:00 pm at Buena High School. New chairman Alan Pace said the new owners were "fully prepared" to back manager Sean Dyche. The deal was completed after being approved by the Premier League and comes on the eve of the January transfer window.
