Hertha competed perfectly fine before this season. Suddenly some struggles and we need to become CL squad. How do you go from that to that? One investor wanting to spend 9 figures.....How is it good if every 1BL club all get investors, there will be barely barely any chances in 1BL for Academy players.

and that's an issue most quality players don't want to play in Germany or use the league as a place to go to where they truly want to play at, user mentality. I dislike all users, can tell you majority of Frenchies in 1BL don't care about the league, they just see it as opportunity. And most players who come to Germany are nothing special either. Lots of money spent at okay players.

There is no homegrown protection in Germany, no limits on squad sizes. You really risk going into dangerous territory the more money starts to dominate. Already this season squads are overflated and they pile up and pile up.

And I don't like the feeling that 1BL will only make it easy for Elite talents to make it while all the good talents will likely be dumped and have to take long ass route to make it. Even guys highly rated by their own clubs are getting 0 integration as clubs just buy galore. Will every player go on loan in a league that in recent times, barely loans anywhere? EPL at least has shit ton of loans for young players, Germany is barely.....mostly because 2BL wants players they own over loanees, which is problematic to say.

all risk becoming EPL 2.0 and don't forget soon enough Brexit will kick in. That will have even more impact on domestic players too.Tons of articles about how there would be a inflow to 1BL instead.

I'm not that fussed about 1BL and Europe and competing there. 1BL will never have money anywhere near other leagues. Even with all the $$$ they currently have, they constantly embarrass themselves vs smaller leagues who are also catching up.

I don't really care about money or making this league into EPL 2.0. I hate EPL and would hate the league to become like that. Majority of the German league isn't made of Germans but foreign players. More interested in German players and German dev. We are already seeing more and more German clubs losing their identities and culture. And money will make them lose even more.

and now is not the time to pour money like crazy. German dev is outdated and everyone in Germany knows it and for that to get better it will take time. Bierhoff states that it he expects clubs will focus more on Germans and less on foreign players in 2030-onwards. That is when shoving money will be more okay, but now, you risk making things A LOT worse. 10 years of making it harder and harder for homegrown.....

In the evaluation criteria of the junior players should not be more selection, but versatile development in the foreground. "That we manage to develop a winning mentality, without ever looking at results from an early age." German football had taken incredibly important measures in 2000 with the establishment of the performance centers and the talent development program, but the mistake was that we did not adjust after that, and we need to check at shorter intervals whether what we are doing makes sense If we succeed, our clubs will not have to go overseas in 2030. Then the pool of talent will be big enough and we will be back on the top of the world. "

of course we are still dev lots of Elite/top talents but I'm not worried about those kids but about the good talents the ones who are below that level. Clubs will buy and make it harder for them, they will be forced to take longer route since clubs would rather buy. When everyone has money it forces everyone to buy just to be competitive who will integrate?

heck people bring up Hertha spending like crazy forgetting as mentioned above that the highly rated Arne Maier IS being affected by it. It's why there is public row between him, Klinsmann, Preetz, about how he wants to leave and the club blocked his exit. They payed $40M for 2 players who play his position. Not a show of confidence and more likely a block. How does a young player dev if he's on bench?

Hertha was not competitive imo, they were/are always miles behind the likes of Bayern and never did anything in CL/EL.

They have the potential to be a European powerhouse, capital City club in the largest country and most powerful economy in Europe. Wouldn't it be good for the BL to have at least 4 or 5 teams consistently at Bayern's level?

I do think there should be homegrown protection btw, and also squad limits.

The BL will never be an EPL 2, as fans have a far stronger voice and 50+1 will remain in place. But it does need to be more competitive, having Bayern winning every season is not good for the league. The only way for other clubs to compete is with more investment.

I absolutely do not want to see quality homegrown talent discarded or blocked btw, however this comes down to good management and coaching at clubs. The problem comes when clubs are run in a dumb way and recruit far too many mediocre players. Invest in a few high quality foreign talents and they can help the younger players. It's about striking the right balance imo.

I feel like 50+1 is losing voice by the season, every season more are putting pressure to take it down.

there is currently no indication of any homegrown or squad limits happening. There are no squad limitis it's why 50% of 1BL have squads with over 30+ players when matchday squads are 20 players......

homegrown protection, sign 12 Germans min......club has squad of 30+, and all the Germans besides a few are irrelevant. WAY WAY too many loopholes in Germany. Need 12 German signed, here's a few Bullshit pro contracts.......

the league is pathetic anyways, remember when Robbery at the end of the careers were still embarrassing teams and Bayern won with them anyways. Old farts

money doesn't solve anything, RB Leipzig keeps spending fortunes on irrelevant players. Look forward to seeing how this team of barely any Germans look without Werner scoring for them game after game. Stuttgart spent fortunes and it got them relegated.

I still recall Wolfsburg spending tons and tons of money and they ended up just above relegation zone for a few seasons. Neverkusen does buy a lot and emphasis on Never.

about how Veh for 2 years WAS sabotaging ALL German youngsters at Koln because all he did was buy buy buy. And due to this they lost a player that all of Europe wanted and who is viewed as Elite to Bayer Leverkusen. It also made them lose top talent to Schalke as well. Can you imagine a youngster viewed as best talent at the whole club and best midfielder produced in 30 years at the club.

That’s a pity though ... it needs to be made more difficult for the Bayern ... but the competition always self destructs

pity for Dortmund but not Leipzig who have recently struggled. But in the end it's may the best team win. Although Dortmund need to stop Haaland being on bench. Might have some fitness issues that stop him from playing 90 though.

Bayern are not through yet having to play Hoff. If Bayern get knocked out the Cup will be open season.

What saddens me as a BVB Fan is the knowledge that as soon as the price is right, he's off to a new club.

it's the reality of Dortmund being a selling club who plays youngsters. Young players are lured because it's top league playing regular CL. Haaland went to Dortmund because there is NO CF competition there. But his draw was never 1BL.

and Dortmund makes fortune selling these players off. Not sure how one wins trophies when you always have to replace players or with young squad.

people always complain about Bayern but Dortmund and Leipzig don't do themselves any favors by playing too many young players and players who likely won't last long.

you end up with players who leave before even hitting prime years.

Borussia Dortmund crazy season under Lucien Favre - in their last 15 games in all competitions there was 74 goals scored, average of 4.93 goals per game. 44 goals scored by Dortmund (2.93 / game) and 30 goals conceded (2.00 / game).

Favre should have been sacked at the end of last season or October at the latest.

The total imbecile has no winning mentality whatsoever, and worst of all he'll probably do just enough to stay on the job.

I genuinely believe BVB have what it takes to get past PSG, but Favre's track record speaks for itself: entering the in knock out round of European tournaments equals the end of the road. Add his lack of winning mentality and you have a perfect recipe for disaster.

Favre is the definition of clown bum coach. Not sure who's more shit him or Kovac?

for one of the biggest clubs in Germany it shows the clubs lack of interest in winning anything when they hire someone who's not a real contender for anything but Biggest loser coach of the season.

I also want him fired. I bet you only thing that would get him fired, is if Dortmund fail to make CL next season, lol.

kind of hypocritical now that he's head of a club he's against 50+1.....or more like Bayern as a club is against 50+1 so he might be forced to go with them.

but it does prove my point about increasing interest to axe 50+1.............

just read the comments at the tweet a lot of pro 50+1 in there. Barf making 1BL like EPL or becoming owned by rich oil billionaires.

the day you take down 50+1, there will be nothing German about 1BL left. Every club will be owned by foreigners.

looks like everyone this week won in Europe. Although Bayer needed a PK and Wolfsburg needed an OG to win.

LMAO, Frankfurt trashed Salzburg 4-1, who looked like 3rd Liga club out there, so bad. Always nice seeing an RB club get trashed.

    only team left is Bayern....

Leverkusen and Wolfsburg need to play well next week since they conceded away goals and have a narrow 2-1 advantage

Yes 5 wins out of 5. Frankfurt and maybe Leipzig are in quite a strong position imo, the other 3 have very narrow 2-1 leads to defend away, which won’t be easy.

It would be good to have at least 2 teams in the 1/4 finals of both competitions this season.

man Bayern has so many eh players.
-Odriozolo on loan on his debut looked average at best. Better play the bang average Pavard instead at RB.
-Coman fast dribbler with no end product that played at PSG, Juventus, Bayern and even Citeh showed interest. But he's scored like 17 goals in 100 1BL games for Bayern LOL. This season 5 goals and 5 assists in all competition over 1600 min, that's rubbish.
-Hernandez, $80M both a Bayern/Bundesliga record for this injury prone player, lol he got embarrassed tons by Paderborn today, LMAO. Let's hope he does better for rest of the season.
-Countinho just doesn't show it. Not worth the $100+M that Barca want.
    -Cuisance, LOL
    -Perisic.......

need to do better next season. 3 players on list are players on loan too........
