But it wasn’t even about choosing one or the other. Haaland had already signed with City before Mbappe pulled out, so the most Florentino could offer both of them was to be top earners for the club and be matched in salary. That meant that he would have to offer much less than what city offered for Haaland, hence why he chose city. I firmly believe had we known mbappe wasn’t coming before Haaland signed with city we would have gone for him. And if you think that he hadn’t actually signed with city before mbappe bailed, it still wouldn’t have mattered cause Florentino Pérez doesn’t do shady business like stealing a player right before he is about to sign for another club. Or at least not anymore.

"Washed" Carva (still only 30) had Luis Diaz in his pocket to win his 5th CL as starter while hipsters fav RB TAA who can't defend completely missed Vini's run for the goal. [emoji23]

We don't have morons like you managing and coaching the club thankfully. Only two way RB comparable to Carva is Reece James.

Suarez chilled in Holland for years while Benz dominated Ligue 1 for couple of years and made big move to RM at 21. Yet Suarez is out of Europe at 34 lol. Since you ranted about CL scoring ratio, check Suarez, Ibra's terrible scoring record in KOs.

Benz deliver in big games unlike Suarezs, Ibras stat padding vs Brugge etc in group stages. Suarez literally went on away scoring drought in CL which was hilarious while Barca was getting smashed in Europe every year.

    I'll bite the bait.

Yeah Carvajal is so washed that he's having trouble putting his pants in the laundry since Luis Diaz is making it heavy in his pocket. The guy is coming off his 5th CL title and arguably his greatest CL performance. What odd timing.

To call Benzema a meme player is simply ignorance. To insult the starting striker for Real Madrid for over a decade in arguably the greatest era of any club is distasteful.

Two can play this stupid selective stats game.

First, newsflash: More games and longevity is a GOOD thing. Why would you imply that's a bad thing? 605 games played for Real Madrid is an incredible feat. Most of these people you bring up were completely out of European football by Benzema's current age while he is the current best player in the world at age 34.

Second, His goal per 90 ratio is .66, superior to that of Luis Suarez and Zlatan and Henry who you seem to call superior. Why? You use that stat to argue for Puskas and Hugo but then not for all these other names you call superior? Seems deliberately obtuse to me.

Third, it's humorous you decide not bring up assists whatsoever since he blows all these strikers out of the water in that regard. You choose a totally selective stat and decide to exclude whatever doesn't suit you. Passing stats, progression stats, dribbling stats, chance creation stats, pressing stats, Benzema dominates in plenty of categories.

In my view: Benzema is arguably the most complete and well rounded striker of all time. His combination of technique, size, and class are unique. His longevity is exceptional. His trophy cabinet is second to none. Yes, he's had a couple of poor seasons, but which striker you listed hasn't had a poor season? How many of them have had seasons of Benzema’s caliber in their 30’s?

how I see is it nothing wrong to see what we can do next season with team that won champion and league title, however, market is dry and these tweaking and replacements can be done at any time - remember one in hand is more worth then 3 on the bush so we can wait a season or two to see that really team need in long term

logic says do not break if it works and delivery the best

Isco, Bale, Marcelo, Jovic barely played. So we lost nothing and added Rugiger, Tcho? We need a back up ST but let's not act like those players added anything on the pitch in the last 3-4 years.

There's definitely a shortage of Real Madrid tier forwards on the market - of the current u23 crop I'd like to see Victor Osimhen but that's probably a bit of a pipe dream.

Loan deal for Moise Kean? Moukoko?

Just seems like we may as well sit tight and sign Endrick in a couple of seasons.

Chicharito offering his services. Haven't watched the MLS but I doubt he's lost much of the qualities that made him an attractive option a few seasons ago. Could be a low risk option even now :whistling:

This morning, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro told Radio Marca that Real Madrid target Iker Bravo wants to return to Spain.

“The player wants to return to Spain, but I think he is wrong and that the best thing for him would be to stay in Leverkusen and train every day with the first team and play with the U19,” Carro said. “We will sell him to the one who gives us the best conditions.”

Today, Relevo reported that the player himself has chosen Real Madrid.

“Iker Bravo has chosen: he wants to play for Real Madrid, conversations already ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen,” Sergio Santos of Relevo stated today. “He will join RM Castilla and will also play the UEFA Youth League.”

It does seem like Bravo is paving the way to Real Madrid, and certainly with the departure of Juanmi Latas this summer, Castilla could use the talented Spanish striker.

Ehh, Mr Carro. What is wrong with playing in Castilla at 17 and perhaps training with the first team as well at times? Anyway, never seen this kid play.

The kid has talent but is Castilla level. He doesn't solve any issue we would have if Benzema needed a rest or God forbid got injured.

The kid is 17 and isn't being signed for the 1st team.

I actually rate him fairly high for a 17 year old. There are 16-17 year old players that look good at those ages but whose talent are not translatable to higher levels.

Iker Bravo actually looks like a kid whose talent/skillset could translate.

He is probably at least 2 or more years away to be on the first team, but a good news is a good news. He played on the Spain U17 in the Euro 2022 U-17 in June.

Or like you cried Tchouameni will join PSG for money and then started moaning about signing Tchouameni once the deal was confirmed. Guess you got it covered both ways for Iker Bravo as well. [emoji1]
