Then Mexico can arrange other friendly matches with other European or even African countries

Then that is an interesting conundrum especially considering you then also still have Carlos Vela and Chicharito available

Vela is more of a winger and doesn't want to play for the NT (doesn't seem to be willing to change his mind either) while Chicharito is two years older than him, clearly on a downward trajectory and on a lesser league. If Tata is willing to call Furch, his main competition for that third striker spot would be America's Henry Martín, Sporting KC's Alan Pulido or younger guys such as Guadalajara's Alexis Vega or perhaps Santos Laguna's Eduardo Aguirre.

He's okay. Furch has been more consistent, though.

Vela is not available...I’d be ok with Furch but not ideal.

It’s not even close..Furch is a much better option. Pulisic has no business anywhere near the nt.

Hard to take Pulido’s play in the MLS seriously. Not sure if it’s because they haven’t played in a while but some of the highlights coming from that league are absolutely horrendous.

Yeah. If anything, Pulido's strongest argument is his recent goal-scoring tittle with Chivas.

Furch is better than Pulido (he’s terrible at headers). For this cycle, it’s Jimenez and Macias as the top two. Call up Furch and have him compete against Chicharito for the 3rd spot.

I think a lot of you are overrating Furch. He's good with Santos but he has been inconsistent and this past season he lowered his level which has happened before. He could definitely make the team but I don't see him being overly superior to Pulido and even less superior than past Naturalizados.

Then also add Lozano into that attack Mexico has a pretty lethal team heading into 2022

Right, our team is going to struggle, same as every other World Cup.

But this upcoming team may be as deep a Mexican team as in recent memory

Not in all positions and not very deep.

I’m not getting my hopes up, I’ll wait and see.

    an island in my mind
The defense is nowhere as deep as a Salcedo, Maza, Osorio, and Rafa. I mean...not even close. This team is not bad though.

I think we’re gaining some depth in certain positions like fullback and on the wings but cbs and cf are still thin.

It’s what has done us in the last couple wcs imo.
