    Argentine striker Carlos Tevez, whose 20 goals led Corinthians to its first Brazilian national title since 1999, was chosen "King of America" as South America's best player on Thursday, the first man to win the honor three straight years.

    The 22-year-old Tevez received 77 votes in Uruguayan daily El Pais' annual poll of the continent's sports writers, well ahead of the 54 received by Uruguayan Diego Lugano, who helped Sao Paulo to the Copa Libertadores crown.
