It's not clear who is running it, but there was a letter from the leader of the Triple Play group that wants to build a stadium downtown on there encouraging people to keep supporting it.

The plans for teams 21, 22, 23 may have hit a snag at step 23, although this may only be a temporary delay:

    Source: Miami MLS bid lags

    September 14, 2013

quote: "cities for three of the four expansion teams the league hopes to add by the end of the decade have already been identified, with a league source confirming that that list is comprised of Orlando, Atlanta and Miami."

"But that same source said the lack of a suitable stadium is currently holding back Miami’s bid"

    http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1553020/miami-mls-franchise-bid-lacks-suitable-stadium-source-says

I guess MLS has grown to the point of being able to dictate where cities can put their stadia (like the League having nixed Pontiac).

I really wish that the reporter, who got a lot of things right in this piece, would have mentioned something about SUM, and how easy it is for a team owner in any sport to make a profit and report a loss. I also would have liked to see a comparison of the number of teams in other sports that report a loss.

And what a co-owner of Derby County would know about the ability of a Detroit MLS team to make a profit, I don't understand.

Wayne County's choice of developer for stalled jail site expected to be announced Wednesday
    1:27 PM, October 29, 2013

    http://www.freep.com/article/20131029/NEWS01/310290113/Wayne-County-Jail-site-developer

A special Wayne County group charged with choosing a potential buyer for the stalled $300-million county jail site is expected to make its decision known to the Wayne County Commission on Wednesday.

The panel of county officials is expected to make a presentation to the commission during a Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for 2 p.m.

    ...

County officials held meetings in late April and early May with representatives from Quicken Loans owner Dan Gilbert's Rock Ventures group and Triple Properties Detroit, which owns the Penobscot Building and the Pontiac Silverdome. Those two groups are among three finalists from five submitted requests for information on the site.

Detroit got a brief mention, starting at 16:02, in the Don's pre-season presser. He says, "Mike Duggan is a soccer fan; that's kind of a cool thing!" (refering to the Detroit mayor), and was at the Red Wing - Maple Leaf hockey game in Ann Arbor. In the end, he says that Detroit is not on a short list, but never say never.

This was the middle portion of a Midwest-expansion discussion (Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Detroit, Minnesota) [expansion cities were done alphabetically, and ironically, the Midwest cities were bunched together], where he says to Cleve, Cincy, and Dayton fans, "Support the Crew," implying that expansion to those cities is probably not on the horizon.
