I imagine they are using their second team to get him some game time and that's no indictment of the kid. Colorado used their whole senior team in a MLS NP game after a long layoff around the international break.
Could be a bit of both... I mean... it was a very poor first half. But yeah... I imagine it is more about keeping him game fit. Hoping he gets back on the pitch soon and makes a case for starting.
Not even sure who this is but didn't Tyler Adams make his debut in that friendly win over Chelsea... 16-year-old Charlotte FC Academy player Brian Romero comes on the dying minutes of the Chelsea game to make his first team debut and wins a penalty within minutes!Daniel Rios buries the penalty to tie the game up for the Crown. Yeah, I saw that in the game's summary. The kid is a regular for the U17 NT. That is all I know about him.

Do people really consider appearances in meaningless firendlies....................first team debuts? San Jose has to figure out how to get Walls (in particular) some first team time in games that matter. Maybe in the back half of the season if the playoffs are out of reach. Medina is still only 15, and Ochoa is a 17 year old keeper. I've been pleasantly surprised by the performance level of Tsakiris. San Jose academy just at the start of their wave of academy talent. Good things happening. ...............too bad they're one of the worst teams in the league this year.
how much longer for Wynder in USL... .@loucityfc's Josh Wynder (@WynderJoshua) voted @USLChampionship midseason Young Player of the Year by fans. https://t.co/mG5SSQfXOx— Andrew Chernoff - WISH-TV (@ADChernoff) July 22, 2022
Probably not till next summer I think as he doesn't turn 18 till next May and he seems to prefer Europe to MLS.
Where did you hear that from? CB is such a tough position to master. He is doing a heck of a job in the USL.... especially considering his age. I have watched every minute he has played since roughly game 3 this season when he was initially repped up in this thread. There is so much to like about him but I am not at all sure he will be ready to start in one of the better Euro Leagues next season. I would like to see him sign with a MLS Team and get a real shot to start right off the bat. Play a couple of years in the MLS... continue to hone his craft and then go abroad when he is viewed as a starter. It will be interesting to see how Kobi Henry does at Reims this season. If he actually gets significant minutes and holds his own it might be easier for Wynder to make the jump w/o a stop in the MLS. Either way... both of these guys are very talented. Not too far fetched to see these guys as the starting CB duo for the Olympic Team and manning the backline for the USMNT in the 2026 WC.
It was in the Athletic article about teams being interested in him https://theathletic.com/3418684/202...and-richie-laryea/?source=user_shared_article He’s definitely talking to MLS teams, but appears to favor going to Europe and specifically to a league where he’ll get minutes like Holland or Belgium.
Kayden Pierre 3 clips from Kayden Pierre last night v LAFC that illustrate growth I am excited about: 1. confidence + skill to dribble out of pressure2. clever slip pass in final third3. nice driven, early crossAll vs best team in MLS. Dantouma Toure (‘04) had a brace, including this weak foot golazo. He now has 8G, 4A in 1143 Next Pro minutes this season. He’s the only U-20 player in the top 10 of the league in goals scored that. So not going to lie, I only started semi following youth players at the beginning of the decade (like 2012ish). It's astonishing how much more promising our youth top to bottom look a decade later. I feel like in those days you could count the amount of interesting prospects with two hands, and we had to scrape that list from every corner of the globe (Gyau buried in Germany, Gatt and Diskerud in some scandinavian league, Shea and Agudelo in MLS, etc). And we needed all of them to pan out to feel good about the future of the NT. Right now I feel like there's 4 or 5 times that number easy and that's not including the ones like Pulisic, McKennie, Adams, etc who already panned out for our senior NT (ironically at the same age as some of those above names). I'm not saying they will all pan out and help our NT, but there's far more lottery tickets to go around
Pomykal not really a "breakout youth player" but the other three... Who were the best young-player performers in MLS Week 22? Brian Gutierrez Midfielder · Chicago Fire FC OK Chi city, you have our full attention – starting with you, Guti. The previously sleepwalking Fire have now ripped off three straight wins and are 5W-3L-0D since the June international break, with Sunday’s 3-1 win at Vancouver (which as Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle noted on Sunday, is somehow their first-ever victory on Cascadian turf) probably the most impressive of the bunch. Their 19-year-old homegrown midfielder is pulling his weight and then some. Gutierrez completed 91% of his passes (21/23) and created two chances in his 60 minutes on the pitch at BC Place, and also went 4/6 on dribbles and won 71% of his duels. Those numbers hint at the danger the teenager posed while also pointing to the nuanced task of finding balance and chemistry with Xherdan Shaqiri, Chris Mueller and the rest of Chicago’s XI. Guti can be more consistently clean on the ball and do a bit more defensive work, it’s true. But the kid has a level of vision and technique that could make for a special player if he keeps earning minutes and contributing to positive results. Honorable mentions Serge Ngoma: It’s a pity the 17-year-old pulled up lame less than halfway through RBNY’s win in Austin, because he was a live wire over his 32 minutes on the pitch. Beyond scoring the game’s opening goal, the homegrown was 4/4 on passes, 2/2 on dribbles and waded into 10 duels, winning six of them, and earning two free kicks. Paxton Pomykal: Don’t let results elsewhere distract you from FC Dallas’ substantial achievement of inflicting Real Salt Lake’s first home loss of the season in league play. It was a narrow, hard-earned 1-0 victory, and PaxiPomy was central to it, assisting on Jesus Ferreira’s winner and grinding on the other side of the ball as well. Aidan Morris: The Crew have reasons to be unhappy with just one point from the Revs’ visit; considering how prolific their high-powered attack has been since the arrival of Cucho Hernandez, any home shutout should feel frustrating. They’re still undefeated when Morris starts this season, however, and the 20-year-old was rock-solid again this weekend, passing at a 91% clip and managing the danger of playmaker Carles Gil.
By the way, Suarez is the son of a capped USMNTer So he goes into the bin with all of the other sons coming thru the developmental system these days. He's the son of former Dallas Burn, LAG, Chivas defender Ryan Suarez. Drafted 7th overall, and a pretty good player for that era. Capped in a friendly against Wales in 2003. Really thought of as a possible USMNT RB/CB. Injuries, and a subsequent lack of development, hampered him.
