Re: Breaking News From Austria Hey Guys, The pictures are really great. Thanks for sharing. There's still nothing about signing Song on the website.
Re: Breaking News From Austria Rick, Excellent to hear about the side signing that beautiful flag. I had a feeling Arsenal might land Song. I'm thrilled that he looked good out there. Wonder what the lads were saying when they saw the flag? I would have been drooling and spellbound that they were all signing it!
Re: Breaking News From Austria WOW! That is so cool to see that glorious banner on TV. Great stuff. The day ArsenalAmerica puts a footprint on Austria. Good times.
Re: Breaking News From Austria WOW, How cool is that to have the flag signed. Insurance would definately be a good idea. Thanks for sharing the pics! Size wise was the Arsenal America banner the biggest supporters banner out there? The one next to it looks almost close in size but not quite.
Re: Breaking News From Austria anyone else thinks its corny to have a canadian flag with the words ARSENAL AMERICA over it? not to belittle the canadians in the slightest, just seems to biased towards uncle sam.
Re: Breaking News From Austria but it doesnt say north... anyways... carry on~ good size on the thing.
Re: Breaking News From Austria Well you know what they say its not the size of the.....ok it is all about the size!
Re: Breaking News From Austria U-S-A!!! We're #1!! That banner is huge though! Great it is signed my so many Gunners.
Re: Breaking News From Austria What You mean all my girlfriends have lied to me all these years... I've always been told my flag was big enough
Re: Breaking News From Austria If I had any rep to give Miles, it would be all yours! I am excited to see the banner-we need to get it to the ATL for a match!
Re: Breaking News From Austria This would be contingent on Dan getting to hang it on his wall for one week.
Re: Breaking News From Austria why insure it? surely as its a "only a piece of cloth" it wouldnt fetch much if stolen or destryoed. and if it was, how would the money replace the sentimental value?
Re: Breaking News From Austria That's an interesting point you raise Phishy. If you look at Arsenal.com, our listing is specific to the United States. In fact, it seems that someone has started an Arsenal Canada. Arsenal America has always been for both countries, so I'm not quite sure what will happen next. For example, AFC may tell us that after this season, all of our Canadian members will have to join Arsenal Canada. I can't say for sure, but I intend to find out.
Re: Breaking News From Austria Ok, let's clear a few things up. 1. Arsenal America - Let me introduce some of you to my good friend. His name is Alliteration. 2. Size - When originally commissioned I asked for a 5'x10' flag. What I received was significantly larger. 3. Insurance - As stated by MixMasterMatt, the check for US$400 (the cost of the flag) really won't leaving me feeling that great when the flag gets destroyed/lost/stolen. Which brings me to point 4... 4. Arsenal America flag situation - While I'm no longer President of ArseAm, I am the founder. I think the original flag (commissioned by me, while I was president) is 'coming home' to New Jersey. I hope to create official ArseAm flags for our communities. So we'll make ArseAm Philly, LA, Chicago, DC, etc. flags. They'll be smaller, but I also think they will be of better quality. That's not to say that the original mothership flag will never be seen again, I'm just not sure we're going to see it travel around the US/Europe too much.
Re: Breaking News From Austria So just when it gets the new autographs and is getting more exposure, it is going to end up in your closet most of the year. Well that sucks.
Re: Breaking News From Austria As the current president of ArseAm, I agree that the banner belongs with our founder. At the same time, I think we should have opportunities for members to see the banner in person. Hopefully what we can do is to have someone travel with it, much like the guy who goes around with the Stanley Cup. - In all seriousness, that's probably the best solution. We'll figure something out for sure...
Re: Breaking News From Austria Ideally it will still be seen in several places, several times a year. A community shield match in Philly. An FA Cup final in DC. A trip to Highbury once a season. But having it flying around to smoky bars where a Spurs fan can spit on it, or take a magic marker and draw a little penis on it is not what I want to see happen. That's why were a commited to create banners for individual markets.
Re: Breaking News From Austria That certainly sounds like a better tone than the worry-inducing "That's not to say that the original mothership flag will never be seen again..." I was thinking that I'd probably seen the last of it in London last year. Fair enough.
Re: Breaking News From Austria As the secretary of ArseAm, I defer to the founder and the current President and think the flag would best be kept at the super-secret ArseAm headquarters in the swamplands of New Jersey. Of course, that will set a precedent for the ArseAm Texas flag to be held in the (not so) super-secret ArseAm Dallas HQ, so what else would I say??? Seriously, though, Rick having the flag is proper because, without him, we'd all still be "a bunch of guys having meetings without getting anything done". (Well, Mike deserves credit for that, too, I guess.)
Re: Breaking News From Austria Where can I apply for this job? I already have the white gloves and everything!
