I dont think we will ever see joga bonito again...
Its not a style of play - it is more to do with the players you have to choose from... Joga bonito ( the beautiful game) can only be achieved if you have a team of great players that want to play beautiful football...
Junior leandro eder cerezo falcao socrates zico were brought up being influenced by pele and the 1970 team...
But who do the next generation look to for inspiration ?..
Brazil decided a long time ago that joga bonito didnt win you trophies and thus became obsessed with defensive midfielders..
The reason brazil 82 played attractive football is purely down to the ability of those players...
Tele santana would not be able to re-create that team in todays game because players do not play in that style anymore..
It was a once in a lifetime team

Talent is not brasil problem is picking the right players and right system. Just look at Lucas Moura who was omitted by Scolari. He deserved to be on the team but was never given a real chance. The same can be said about a few other players that were left out of the team for old over the hill players.

Yes a diiffence between the 1982 team and the other teams is the same like a difference between the Beatles and the othe groups in music.

I think even if we had the talent, it would be difficult for Brazil to play a free flowing game with the advance in tactics.

I gotta agree with you Kaka!! Cause with today's game size and strength matters cause in todays game a strikers like Romario and Tulio(didn't hear that name in some time)would be forced to the midfield

This has already been discussed ad-nauseam in the other thread.

Yes, Brazil lost because they were above Netherlands, Argentina, France, Spain, etc in weight and above Argentina, Spain, France, etc. in height based on the average for the whole squad. Brazil and the Netherlands were basically identical in both categories.

Power weight height and muscle mass are nothing without technique and ability..and brazil are seriously lacking in the technical department nowadays..
In todays game its true that brazil are not going to play like they did in 1982 but its still possible to play a free flowing game if you have good enough players
Its time for brazil to ditch the mediocre defensive midfielders and be brave enough to give creativity a chance...

Honestly, I think Brazil is still producing great talent. A Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar only come around once every so often. Keep in mind if Ronaldinho wasn't so in love with women and clubs and had that elite work ethic that other greats have he would be right up there with the Messi talks. His talent level was ridiculous, id argue his talent and skill level was as good as any player to ever play the game. What skill/talent did he lack? Maybe not elite goal scoring, but it was good enough. Its a shame he didn't have the drive to be the greatest, he definitely could have.
