Re-post from other thread: Why does DPRK only have seven subs, while Brazil has eleven? How did the player from DPRK get suspended and why are there three others that are missing?
I'm hoping for a ridiculously over-confident NK team coming out guns blazing...and Brasil being forced to play Joga Bonita.
Isn't it strange about how our American and Eurocentric announcers constantly harp about what a mystery this North Korean team is? I mean, I'm aware of the politcal/social/cultural stuffr with North Korea and the lack of communication about them, but it's not like they didn't play 8 or so games (or more) in qualification. I mean, if they had some Asian analysts I'm sure they could give some insight into the team. I myself saw on FSC watched North Korea play South Korea in a big match last fall (not that I remember much about it). I mean, it's not like the North Korea team hasn't played a bunch of internatinal matches before.
Spain is the only team in this WC that plays Joga Bonita. This is going to be an ultra-catenaccio match. Brazil 2-0. Both goals from set pieces.
Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous. It's not like all their players are playing behind the iron-curtain in stadiums closed to Western cameras.
I have seen N.Korea play numerous times. N.Korea is not skillful and does have problems containing skillful teams. It also has problems on corners and crosses in its box. They are relatively disciplined, however, and do have some players who can latch on to long balls to pose a threat on counters. Overall, however, I have a hard time imagining them containing Brazil for more than 15 or 20 minutes. They will probably lose by 3-4 goals. Incidentally, the team that they resemble the most is China.
May Brazil gift the great leader with 14 goals! Same. To me the biggest interest for North Korea is how they handle a very skilled and disciplined team from a region/school they've never faced and whether JTS gets chances and what he does with them. Counting down to the first goal so my nerves settle. An early foul and set piece would be great.
I'm holding up my lighter for those in North Korea at this moment who really want to watch this game but can't due to the nutbag leader and the cheapskates.
