Yep, they lost 3-0. They're now 4 points from 1st with 3 games to go. The league championship is slipping away quickly.
Next match - 21 May 2023 Genk vs Union St. Gilloise 12:30 PM EST on ESPN + Genk must win to stay in the hunt. McKenzie will start unless he is hurt.
MCKENZIE SCORES. Thats 4 in 5 games. Then a few minutes later misjudges a clearance and gives up a 1 on 1 that the GK parries away lol
What is crazy is that he now has the same amount of goals as Jordan Pefok. One point, combined with Antwerps loss make the last two weeks very interesting.
3 goals in his last 4 games (all in the playoffs) and they have only garnered 4 points out of 12. Genk never should have let Onuachu go. They have plummeted since he left.
I’ll raise you on the level of craziness McKenzie has more league goals this season than Musah, LDLT, Adams, McKennie, Pulisic, Aaronson, & Weah combined
There were two thoughts at that time. When he was sold, I think Genk were up by 12 points. Antwerp had not gone on their amazing run of form. So I think people thought that Genk was safe. But the other thought was that the team was so set up to feed Onuachu that selling him would require an massive overhall of the team. I think that the real answer is somewhere between the two. But there is a good chance that any of the three could finish in any order.

It would be really cool if they came back and won it after dropping such a large lead in the race. <fingers-crossed>
So here are the permutations: Genk - Antwerp Union - Club Brugge. For Genk, then need to win, and Union could draw of lose. Otherwise, they will not win.
A huge difference between winning the title and taking 2nd or even 3rd. But what are the stakes when it comes to Europe? I am having a hard time finding the slots. I found something that said Gent would qualify for Europa Conference league for coming in 5th. The colors you posted above make it look like the top 2 get into the Champions League. Not sure of your source. But I assume 3rd place is CL Play-In and 4th goes right to Europa. Is that right? If yes then Genk would make the CL by coming in 2nd which might make the bitter pill of coming in 2nd taste a bit less terrible.
Genk and Club Brugge are going to the Conference League, both in the 2nd Qualifying Round. Antwerp has already qualified for the Europe League into the Playoff Round as the Belgian Cup Winner. If they get 1st or 2nd in the league, they will go to the Champions League instead. Now, I am not sure if Antwerp wins or gets 2nd, who get the Europa League Spot. Would that go to the 3rd place team or the Cup runner up. I think the 3rd place team.
Oops, Gent and Brugge are headed for the Conference League. Wrong last letter. Genk's fate is still unknown.
