Galo handing Grêmio a 3 x 0 loss making the Flamengo x Galo game midweek pretty big.

Point wise, Felipão's Galo is the best team of the 2nd half of the season.

    Botafogo does it again !!!

Up 1 x 0 until the 89th ... and Santos scores. Just unbelievable.

This "pipocada" from Botafogo is probably one the most bizarre things I've seen in sports because it's not only choking by losing games, it's also how they repetitively choked within those games (Palmeiras, Gremio, Bragantino, Santos). I know they over performed in the 1st half of the season and they went though 4 coaches now, but still, they should have been to see the season through. I think today their chances officially died.

We never return well from international break ... lets see if we can break that trend.

I was worried Flamengo were going to go down 1x0 too. America hit the woodwork twice and had the best chances. But Flamengo scored on a great cross, nice header by Cebolinha.

Yeah. Halftime now. Flamengo more in control but if they fail to create real chances I could see a draw or worse happening.

Good start to the second half. 2x0 and a couple of chances.

Also earning some yellows stopping America... but hopefully we can hold on better and score more.

Veiga ties the game against all odds. But I don't think we can hold till the end. 20+ mins left.

    1 x 1

I switched to watch the Veiga goal and saw the Fortaleza goals well. Poor defensive effort on the play.

Flamengo win 3x0. Second half was much better, no periods of America threatening like in the first.

Currently tied for first with Palmeiras, 3 mins left in that game.

    Fortaleza 2 x 2 Palmeiras - FT

I don't know how we pulled this off. I would have taken a draw here before the start and specially how the game went. Could have scored a 3rd at the end but some of these bagres are so bad.

    Palmeiras: America, Fluminense, @ Cruzeiro
    Flamengo: Atletico, Cuiaba, @São Paulo
    Botafogo: @Coritiba, Cruzeiro, @ Inter
Atletico: @ Flamengo, São Paulo, @ Bahia

Atletico back in the chase with the big win today over Grêmio. The Flamengo x Atletico game has become huge now. Flamengo owns Atletico so I think they will win. A draw there won't help either team but Atletico will need the win more. But if Flamengo only draws, it could have Botafogo leap them and/or give us another chance to draw another game while still maintaining the lead.

America's performance 1st half vs Flamengo is scaring me @Ombak . But if we don't beat them at home, we don't deserve the title. I am hoping Fluminense will "have their head in the Mundial" for the next match. If São Paulo has the Sul Americana wrapped up by the last round I can't expect them to not screw us over. So I am gonna need 2 wins next to get into the last round holding our future in our hands.

I switched to your game after the final whistle for Flamengo and saw a 4x2 that they absolutely wasted. Had a real chance to win!

Even with Botafogo dropping points late today the big lovers in the round were Grêmio and Bragantino. Still in it mathematically, but outside of the Libertadores spots for now.

Huge win for Atlético. They started sonpoorly under Scolari, but look at them now. And with Hulk and Paulinho scoring, Flamengo should be concerned, even if we've done well against them recently.

Well ... 5th and 6th qualify for Pre-Libertadores. And the gap to 7th and 8th is pretty decent.

That's fair. I would consider pre-Libertadores to be a failure for Flamengo but obviously that wouldn't be the case for Braga or Grêmio.

There was some controversy in the Palmeiras game with some plays. Mainly a lot of people saying Endrick should have gotten a red card for his punch. I saw it more as a shove than a punch. The replay from behind made it look like a full out punch, but the other angle show more of a shove with the forearm IMO. But I could see some ref giving that red. Should have been a yellow IMO. Regardless, we went down a man just after that play.

Initially I said I thought Gomez got the ball on his tackle but on replay, I couldn't see enough of it. So I think that's a fair red card.

Rocha got stepped on in the 1st half studs on ankle on a late lunge. Fortaleza player grazed the ball but then followed through on the ankle. I've seen red cards given for challenges that were exactly like this but it's a tough one. I don't see how the Fortaleza player can hold back on that challenge and don't consider it too careless. I think a yellow was fine since his foot was in the vicinity of the ball.

Last one is a PK claim for Fortaleza with the score at 2 x 2. That one was clearly not a PK and 100% a dive from a player expecting contact.

Even worse though was Fortaleza's miss at 2 x 1. Mayke thinks he gets fouled midfield and stops playing. They had a 3 v 1 break. They took so long to shoot that Mayke finally came back after complaining for a few seconds and blocked a shot in front of the goal.
