Brad should be there, along with everyone's favorite Kiwi MLS alumnus Nelsen. Birmingham are trying to claw their way out of relegation while Rovers are fighting for European placement, and the big news of the day is that this will be Robbie Savage's first time back at St. Andrew's since going to Rovers. Game is live on FSC and Sirius with a kickoff of 2:45pm EDT.
I get sick of doing this every year... but I think that with a victory, Brad can help Brian and Carlos by ensuring that Fulham are mathematically safe from relegation this season. Not that they're in any real danger whatsoever, but I think with a Blackburn win, Fulham can lose out and still finish 17th.
Given some of the stories about McBride needing surgery to fix a hernia, the sooner Fulham achieves safety the better.
It does not escape my attention that Blackburn were in the same boat (will stay up, but not comfortably) two seasons back.
Masters of a position in the Premiership they've never finished in and won't finish in this year either?
From the sound of it on the BBC tracker, not a damn thing is going on in this game (currently just into the second half), so here's a screencap from a more interesting match.
Good god did Brum ever need that. The first Brum goal came against the run of play and from some bad Blackburn defense. Then, Steve Bruce, the master technician that he is, decided to play 11 men behind the ball for the next 30 minutes. Brum held out for 20 minutes until Judas himself, Robbie Savage, put the ball in an open net after picking up the trash from a pretty good save by Maik Taylor. Brum fought back and scored off a low cross from Julian Gray that Michael Forsell took down in the box and fired towards goal. Brum then played the "dance at the corner flag" game for a few minutes, picked up a few yellows for time wasting and then the ref blew the whistle.
Why? Birmingham are fighting for their lives against relegation. This isn't about what draft choice you get.
Fulham, masters of finishing a bit above the drop zone? I knew I should have done my research with all the FFC fans that hang around here. Sorry man.
That there is nothing shocking about a team fighting for its life against relegation beating a supposedly better team. It happens every season that teams who meet a relegation make or break point start pulling off results that earlier on the season don't seem likely. Take a look at recent results at the bottom of League 2 for a classic example.
