My team played either at half-time or before a game at Comiskey...I was a ball boy at the stadium, went to a ton of games at the Horizon...I may even have a "Rosemont Horizon" pennant around here somewhere
Kind of interesting that he might get to take a mulligan on an MLS stadium -- if the NASL team has aspirations. I hope he's learned something.
I don't care how bad the Fire are, or how great Peter Wilt is. I refuse to give the NASL the time of day. Much less any money.
Your loss. I guess "MLS Snob" will have to be wedged in between Eurosnob and poor, abused lower reaches of Yankee soccer fan.
I couldn't care less about NASL, but I'm happy for Peter to come back to Chicago. I think a positive for the few Fire fans left is this maybe lighting a bigger pyre under Garber and the league office to either get Hauptman out of Chicago or throw some of those Garber bucks and bizarro world rule changes our way that have gone to LA.
My dad started taking my brother and me to games around 1978. He'd acquired a love for the game playing in college and passed it on to us. Without the Sting, I probably don't wind up playing soccer in highschool and juco, don't attend every home Fire match in 2000, and don't fly to MLS cup in 2003. I hope this works out for Peter, and I hope he involves or at least acknowledges the Sterns.
I understand that you guys worship Peter Wilt, but there are reasons he has not been a part of any of the successful launches in MLS since the 90s. He has, though, been attached to several projects that have failed in lower leagues. You are so desperate for the tickle from an authority figure bathed in nostalgia that you have lost all sense.
Its not MLS snobbery. Its the fact that its Chairman of the Board of Directors/ (past) owner of multiple teams was directly tied to the FIFA corruption scandal, that they continue their ridiculous push to be considered a first division league, that their fanbase has a disproportionate number of ridiculous conspiracy theorists, etc. I'd watch a USL team in a heartbeat.
Soccer Morning @SoccerMorning .@PeterWilt1: “We’ve already met with the city’s planning commissioner and have identified multiple sites that could work for a stadium” Guillermo Rivera @FireConf Probably not the only outfit talking to the City about different sites.... I wonder if the Red Stars pair up the the Sting in a city stadium.
Come on, ask Johnny Moore what happens when you stand up for your team against AEG. You become persona non gratis. Peter is the Trumbo of MLS.
