Boca travels to Brazil hoping to move on in La Copa, holding a 1-0 advantage over the current CL and CWC Champions. VS Wednesday May 15 22:00 (Hora Argentina) Stadium: Corinthians Ref: Carlos Amarilla (Paraguay) VAMOS BOCA POR LA COPA!!!
The good news is that it looks like Riquelme will be back. Clemente Rodriguez returns too. So, we get back two excellent and experienced players who are proven winners. Whether they'll be in good enough game shape to make a difference remains to be seen. Bianchi reportedly will go with a 4-4-1-1, to try to keep possession and crowd the midfield. Apparently he wants to keep the same midfield players that had success against Corinthians at La Bombonera, but also wants to add Román, so the odd man out is Burrito Martinez, who's been underperforming. So, here's the likely starting lineup: VAMOS BOCA A GANAR, TU HINCHADA TE APOYA EN LAS BUENAS Y EN LAS MALAS!!!
Considering God's representative on this earth is a San Lorenzo fan, I wouldn't hold your breath If Boca wants to win this game, I wouldn't count on divine intervention. However, you can throw the old moral compass out the window and just play futbol
Yeah, not sure about God, but The Pope is certainly not going to be on our side. On the other hand, the team known as "Los Diablos" won Copa Libertadores seven times, so who knows?
I'm amazed by how little the shirt, the tradition and the history mean in today's Libertadores. We just saw Nacional get beaten by Real Garcilaso. We just saw Palmeiras get beaten by Tijuana. That is a good warning for Boca. The past is in the past, and they better bring it tonight!
Well said. Not to undermine what pride in tradition might mean to a player on the field, but I've always felt the effects overblown. A player must play first for his own personal pride and joy, before anything else he might be representing. That said, I better see some bleeding for the shirt tonight. This year has been too disastrous so far to go home so early.
Both teams are taking the pitch as I type. I kind like the idea of Roman playing in the hole behind a single striker. It puts him in a position to be more advanced and hopefully a bigger thread on goal.
What I fear is Roman having to drop back to get the ball, leaving Blandi completely isolated. It's all on JSM & Ervitti to really control the midfield and give the team the initiative. Are Erbes & Somoza going to be used as double 5s? If so, the first change I would want is Burrito for Somoza.
Jajaja, I've got two of them watching the game with me while enjoying some cigars. They have no idea what's going on but agreed that was quite the golazo!
I don't know, like I said I'm not watching but there's some people who are saying what went down was a disgrace to the game and shit. I just wanted to hear what a different perspective thought. They also say Riquelmes goal was ridiculous.
Yeah it's a physical match but we've seen a lot more in a Torneo de Verano. The golazo was sick for sure.
In fairness, Marin should have gotten a 2nd yellow and Corinthians awarded a penal...and they were wrongly called offsides. That said, neither would probably register in the top worst calls I've seen this week. Boca's tremendous pressure is controlling this match, and Corinthians is on the brink of running out of ideas.
The questionable non-call on Marin I actually missed, damn Cuba Libre' needed a refill so I looked away. The offside initially looked really close but I (yes I'm biased) I thought it was the right call. Definitely more questionable than the offside that screwed Oscar Cardozo and Benfica in the first half of their match.
Anybody who's still hating after watching Riquelme's golazo cannot possibly be a Futbol fan. Has to be a bitter amargo with a sad life.
