    fukking international games!!

    https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo.../naby-keita-xherdan-shaqiri-injuries-19326968

Jurgen Klopp lamented Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita’s latest injury woe as he explained another absence of Xherdan Shaqiri.

Keita limped off with a hamstring problem after 54 minutes of the 3-0 Premier League win over Leicester City at Anfield on Sunday evening. The Guinean, who featured twice for his country during the international break, had impressed on his first Liverpool start in more than six weeks after previous fitness worries. Keita will undergo further checks on Monday with the Reds already grappling with a lengthy injury list.

Meanwhile, Shaqiri has added his name to Liverpool’s absentees after scans revealed he picked up a muscle problem while with Switzerland last week. “How I know it, Shaq had a little muscle injury with the national team which he didn’t really realise and then he trained with us,” said Klopp.

“We gave him a day off then he came back and was involved in a session, but it was not fully involved, he just did a little bit.

“After that he felt a little bit and then we made a scan and they found out it was an injury from five or six days ago.

“Nobody knew about that, not even Shaq knew about that. That’s how things sometimes are.
So he was not able to be involved.”

    Today:

"Thiago is not in team training yet," said the Reds boss. "When will he be in team training? I don't know. We will see. I'm as surprised as the public. In the morning I come in, we have a medical meeting and they tell me 'yes he is in, he is not'.

"I know it's not too far any more [for Thiago], but I have no idea."

I know there was quite a lot sceptical of this guy’s injury record but we do need to cut him and the medical team some slack. I think the injury was worse than initially thought.

the frustration is the multiple mixed messages - one day he's in training and may be ready in afew days, the next day he's still injured with no return date.

    rinse and repeat.

the club's messaging, or ability to provide a reliable prognosis, has been poor imo.

nah, if they had missed the mark once or even twice, OK - but after this long and so many inaccurate updates?

like I said (yesterday??) they'd have been better off saying "injured, return dare not known" and put it out of everyone's mind.

James Pearce; Klopp confirms that Milner has a hamstring problem and says neither Thiago nor Oxlade will be back for the games against either Ajax or Wolves.

Not too much positive to take from that , Sam with only Trent likely to return anytime soon. We may well need more than one addition bought in Jan depending on what our medical staff are predicting for the injured.
