Damnit. He's basically been our most important and consistent player this season. A huge loss. He'll miss 7 games - of those, 3 (Brighton, B'mouth and Watford) are games where we "should" be able to handle his absence: 30 – Brighton (H) 4 – Everton (H) 7 – Bournemouth (A) 10 - Salzburg (A) 14 – Watford (H) 26 – Leicester City (A) 29 – Wolves(H) plus CWC 18 - Club WC game 21 - Club WC game? If he's not back in time he could also miss 2 Sheff Utd 11 Spurs 19 Manure
It would be interesting to see how Keita/OC/Milner are introduced into the midfield. Fabinho is a terrible loss however I hope that the fringe players are able to take this as an opportunity to cement their place. eg. As Matip did to displace Gomez.
Given our squad, the only worries from the above list of game he'll miss, only Leicester and Salzburg are worries. And we're still better than both. We feared a bad start with Allison's injury and look how we did.
my vote is for Hendo to take Fab's DM role, and Ox to step into hendo's place. I love Millie but don't want to see him and Hendo start games any more - Millie on the bench please.
possible midfield selections to cover Fab's absence, game by game https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool...inho-injury-liverpool-midfield-klopp-17337378
I think this is a good opportunity to change the shape. For Brighton, (any chance of a thread @el-capitano?) I’d like to see us go 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-4 with Wijnaldum and Henderson playing as a midfield 2. Alisson Trent Lovren Virg Robbo Henderson Wijnaldum Mane Firmino Origi Salah.
if Keita can stay healthy, this run of games is his best chance to establish himself -- but yeah, not holding my breath either.
I'd rest Salah, and have Ox in midfield and keep the 4-3-3. His ankle needs rest and all now the RedBull game is a must win.
I don't think this is anything different that originally reported. 6-8 week but hopefully sooner. He's out for all of December and likely a couple of weeks in January. The real question is how fast he hits the ground running when he returns.
https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/376930-dejan-lovren-injury-update Jürgen Klopp doesn’t believe the issue that forced Dejan Lovren from the field during the first half of Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday is a serious one. The defender was replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold after 40 minutes at Vitality Stadium. Lovren will continue to be assessed by the club’s medical team; however, Klopp explained the early indications suggest the injury isn’t cause for too much concern. The manager also confirmed the knocks that ruled Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana out of the fixture are also deemed only minor. Klopp told his post-match press conference: “Always you don’t know exactly but it looks not too serious, it looks like a little cramp. He felt something, he told us, said he for sure could go to half-time, wanted to have treatment there and carry on, but we said no and stopped it there. “That’s the status quo, you have these kind of things in this moment of the season. It is similar to what Gini and Adam Lallana had – not serious but serious enough to keep them out. “Now we have two days to make sure they can go again. That’s what I think at the moment but I don’t know 100 per cent.”
We got a lot of Liverpool for us this week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday (hopefully we are picking up a trophy). Sadly we will probably go out of the Carbao cup - but maybe it's a blessing as we will not have to deal with a ridiculous 2 legged semi-final.
