The principle founder of La Norte, Carlos, told me last Sunday he would not be able to make it to the Bolivia match for 2 reasons. 1) he's sick of Bolivia not using there good players on the nats, 2) He's going to the MLS final.

One thing unique about La Norte is that we make every effort to sing the entire 90 or 120 minutes. Carlos is one of the few people, if not the only person that can hit someone to force them to sing and no one will actually get mad. His character is super friendly and is never aggresive when forceing. Anyone else who forces tends to only piss off other people (depending on method). I guess it's an art.

Anyhow, I (and 4 others) found it necessary to do everything possible to get Carlos to attend the Bolivia Match as he knows just how to move people. So me and 4 friends, who forgot about the Final in LA since we found out about the Bolivia match, made it a goal to get Carlos to attend the game we felt he should be attending (after all, it's national pride).

I don't know what happend, or how we even agreed. But we black mailed one another so that we all must attend the Bolivia match and the United match together. Carlos was smart enough to buy plane tickets minutes later after the agreement to be sure we were serious, so theres no backing out. He knows we will pay him by Friday. We love you Carlos and your presence was felt the last few weeks you have been attending DC Matches.

DC United is my favorite club team, and I feel guilty for even thinking about missing out on the final. I will give all my voice on Saturday, and equally as much on Sunday. The diehard 90-120 minute chanting squad is going to LA.

La Norte is not as big as The Screaming Eagles or Barra Brava, but I can assure you all that we will be the viagra to the 2 huge fanclubs attending the match. As far as I know, there will only be about 10-12 Nortenos, but 10-12 is all we need to keep pumping chants from our fellow Eagle and Barra hermanos.

You are going to the Bolivia match Saturday night at RFK, flying out to LA that night/next morning, and making the final in LA? That is impressive. Crazy, but impressive.

One of two things just happened.

    1) He laughed and said, sure, of course.

Congratulations Gentlemen - Your brilliant act of collective insanity is yet further proof that the MLS has every potential of someday becoming a truly world class soccer league.

Last Saturday at RFK was just one example of the caliber of fans this team has. This instance is another. Obviously a case of some gran ventilators!

    Nah, just grand stupidity.

We will be arriving in Cali at 1113am. According to Mapquest, the ride up there should take 17 minutes..... though I'm assuming it will take half and hour.

We will be getting there right on time, I hope. We need to purchase them Screaming eagle tickets ASAP!!

    Awesome plans, guys!

    From the SI Article:

Bolivia are using the game as a warm-up for next Wednesday's World Cup qualifier in Colombia. Bolivia are bottom of the South American World Cup qualifying group with 10 points from 10 games.

Just wondering - does it make sense to add that much travel to the demands of an upcoming WCQ? I know that international caliber players travel a lot, but is this trip necessary?

My guess would be that each country's federation could use the money.
