big match for us coming back from international break... we need 3 points plain and simple, huge rival and its a home fixture. the timing is rather bad though for a match like this considering players will be back from international duty and about 5 days after this match is our 1st leg Uefa Cup match vs the portuguese club we drew. but the good thing is some of our starters aren't on their national teams anymore so we should have some very fresh legs mixed in there as well :D

hopefully those damn italian bastards don't injure Ribery saturday!!!

Im hoping to see a fit Klose and Toni start together in this match. If we are not able to start two strikers it will be very difficult to break down Schalke's organized defense.

    If everyone is fit:

    --------------Kahn
    Lahm-----Lucio---Demi-----Jansen
    ---van Bommel---ze Roberto
    --Ribery----------------Schweini--
    -------------------Klose
    ------------Toni

LOL... if everyone is fit... SAGNOL STARTS!!!

but i don't think he is ready, there is no chance that Jansen starts if Sagnol is fit considering his past outtings for Bayern... Lell/Lahm combo has been more in favor than a Lahm/Jansen... hopefully these Euro qualifyers will boost Jansen's cred and morale, but Lell is sure doing a good job filling in for the injured Willy

Honestly I had written off Sagnol for the first half of the season. I don't expect to see him fully fit until after the winter break. I'm sure he will play before then but not to the level we are used to seeing.

I think Kristaijc will be out for a while, he hurt himself pretty badly against Leverkusen and Bordon wasn't playing that game either, don't know if he'll be back or not.

Toni probably won't play against France so that will give him plenty of time to recover. I just hope Ribery will get through the weekend. The Aitalians need to win the game so they'll do whatever is neccessary, even if that means releasing their bloodhound Gattusso on a star like Franck.

Apparently Lahm is injured for several weeks. :(

    Here's what I'd play:

    ----------------------KAHN-------------------------
    -----------DEMICHELIS--------LUCIO----------------
    -LELL---------------------------------------JANSEN-
    -----------ZE ROBERTO----VAN BOMMEL------------
    -RIBERY--------------------------SCHWEINSTEIGER-
    -------------------KLOSE---------------------------
    ---------------------------TONI--------------------

Seems pretty clear to me. Obviously losing our other star fullback is another blow, especially one as skilled, creative and influential as Lahm is. Jansen and Lell should deputize well, but we won't be as deadly on the flanks as we should be.

looking at our history of bad performances after an international week i am really not happy about the timing of this game. I so want us to give Schalke a good beating and i hope that Ribery and Toni don't get injured because they are playing in as big game that is going to be really heated. Lahm being out really does hurt too.

I believe Toni is being rested and Gilardino will get the starts up top

That's good news. I don't want him to play that game anyway.

Yeah, well, next time I grieve the loss of a star to injury I'll make sure everyone know he's not the only good player injured. I know how good Sagnol is, I happen to think he's one of the five best right-backs in the world right now, and there would be no question about our playing even better with him in the squad.

DId Turkey play in Euro qualifying? I assume Altintop played there, but I think I would try Altintop instead of Lell. Lell has played pretty good, but Altintop is better going forward. I just think he has earned his way onto the team as a starter. I think he has played better than Piggy as well.

Plus there's nothing like some brotherly love on the pitch!!!!!

How much did we pay S04 for Hamit, nothing you say, well I guess he just wasn't good enough for them...

I'd just love to see him score against the Knappen.

He played against Malta, but he is doubtful for the Hungary match on Wednesday. Some kind of minor injury troubling him. Hopefully he'll be available for the Schalke match. I'd be pissed if another player returns back injured from national team duties.

    i think:
    ---------------------kahn

    lell---------lucio-------------demichelis--------jansen

    schweini------vbommel-----zé roberto----------ribéry

    ---------------podolski-------klose

rensing, van buyten, ismaël, ottl, altintop, toni

lahm, hummels, schlaudraff, sagnol and sosa out.

i think toni will be in the bench not as starter. in fact is not sure he can stay. and in any case i would put podolski: he scored yesterday and has confidence.

we have injured 4 good players and we will have a very good eleven against schalke and a good bench. last year this could be 0-4

That looks about right, very strong team. Hitzfeld might opt to play with Klose alone on top and start Altintop.

Would also be great to see Schlaudraff debut.
