Telemundo 52 reported that LAG are in talks with a big name mexican player. They did not say who but said talks are in the preliminary stages. Any idea on who it may be?

    Jared Borgetti.

And if that's true, I'm kinda stoked. C'mon, Donovan and Borgetti as strike partners?

Hmm, what Mexican players are most likely make a move at this point?

Borgetti doesn't sound to far fetched.

Blanco and Donovan on the same team - i'd do a double-take for that one

Borgetti would be great, but it would really changes the off-season plans (or should I say the off-season rumors). You wouldn't need Jaqua and you couldn't get Beckham.

both would be great but I prefer Borgetti, personality wise........he's a Sinaloense:)
both are world class strikers so I think we would benefit either way

It would be a strange turn of events if, after all the effot AEG put into getting the Beckham Rule, that David Beckham would have to play for Chivas.

Actually, if we traded for someone else's DP, then we could have all three for one season - Borgetti, Beckham and Donovan.

Not so keen on Blanco, but Borgetti is exactly what we need - tall, arial threat, can play with his back to goal or with the ball at his feet...

    Make it happen

If that rumor is true, Borgetti is an awesome move. fxck Blanco he is a complete and utter turd.

What is his status I heard he moved this year from Bolton to some Saudi club for a couple of million.

My thinking is what is going to cost the team, via the "new" beckham rule to get Borgetti?

He has a year left on his KSA contract, and you would have to pay something like 2 million Dlls to free him of his obligations to Al-itihad, which means no Beckham, must be somebody else.

    1. Borgetti is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy past his prime. (See Bolton stint)
    2. He would demand a salary that would rival Becks asking price.
    3. Two words "Luis Hernandez".
    4. Telemundo is not the best place for soccer transfer rumors.

    Re: Make it happen

    1) Wrong. He didn't fit in at Bolton, but that doesn't mean he's way past it. It's not like he was ever a *fast* player. He's a tough, sneaky aerial threat and poacher.
    2) Nah. Probably not even close.
    3) Irrelevant. You're thinking in the past.
    4) That's fair, but still the rumor makes more sense than loads of BS Beckham rumors
    5) See #1

I DO NOT believe that Beckham will come to MLS, unless England officially gets knocked out of EuroCup qualifying. He will hold on til the bitter end to get one last shot at England glory. If England tumble out in the group stage, then he'll come.

I would still love Borgetti - it would drive the Chivas fans INSANE

England has moved on... the coach has made it clear that Becks is not part of the national team's future. Kind of the same situation happening with Real Madrid. The guy wants to show that he can still play, but nobody is gonna give him a chance. I really don't believe he is so delusional that he thinks he'll get another shot with the national team.

I predict Beckham and (insert big international name here) to LA and Ronaldo AND Reyna to RBNY next year. Bank on it.

I am neutral on the idea of Borgetti. We do need a striker, but will the price be right?

I would steer clear of Blanco though. This guy has a major attitude problem and could be a huge potential locker room cancer. Just my opinion.....

Luis Landin would be a good addition along with Beckham.

Pretty much, although they is Steve McClaren (sp?).

Becks to MLS is a definite. To LA? 70-90% Chance.

Do I believe LA is going after a "big name Mexican player"? No

LA has other things to concern themselves with; signing Beckham, and getting that all important 2nd DP slot.

He's not a Big Name (anymore) but I was thinking that Abundis' time at Rev's may be over. Doesn't sound like he was too pleased with his reception in New England. He wouldn't be a bad pick up. Not a great one, but one that wouldn't cripple our salary cap either.

Jared may be past his prime but he is still a formidable offensive threat

Blanco on the other hand is washed up and would make ZERO sense to go after him.

Today on Galaxy Deportivo, they mentioned that LAG is in talks with Jared Borgetti. They also said they're interested in bringing one more mexican international to the team

He'd be a good addition, but we've been through this before.
