    My thoughts re: relative positioning:
    USA is overrated
    China is overrated
    Sweden is underrated
    Korea is underrated
    Canada is underrated
    Nigeria is underrated

Sometimes the so-called experts aren't very current. Here's what some of the experts had to say about the USA and Canada before the 2002 U19 WWC.

    http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/03/en/021031/1/e5.html

"So far, UEFA is the only confederation to have organised a youth tournament for girls, first held in 1997 at U-18 level, and extended this year to U-19 level. So it is perhaps not surprising that the European teams due to play in Canada are already favourites to win the title. Germany are many people's tip for glory, having this year won the U-19 European Championship for the third consecutive time. Much is also expected of the French youngsters, who are known to be well organised. They will surely also have benefited from the excellent support afforded over the past two years by their association, who have strived to develop women's football in their country."

Hmmm. I guess they forgot to mention them.

I'd agree canada and north korea are underrated.

I think sweden is about where they should be.

USA odds are largely due to being home side.

I think we'll see far fewer blow-outs and mismatches than previous WC....

The key element is which team peaks in the enxt two weeks, and plays at the top of their abilities.

Canada, having a coach like Pelerud, who has won, and knows what it takes, is a huge edge.

Plus, I like his willingness to go with the young talent. that young eager hunger to win is significant.

tasting winning for the first time, to me, is a far stronger motivation

Canada versus Germany on 9/20 could determine who wins the world cup. The loser will probably play China much more difficult than Australia/russia.

Canada is very much undervalued - bet heavily.

I still like Germany to win it all, though.

I put $25 USD on Canada to win it all.

If they win, I'll net a cool $1500.

Just another reason for me to cheer for the girls :D

Anybody can do this? They don't accept credit cards for the US. I went to my bank. To do a bank transfer they charged $40. Surely, there is a cheaper place to get a bank transfer.

Anyway, France fell apart in Canada. Pressure got to them. But the just won the European championships. And the CNFE has been a great help to Les Bleuettes.
