Well, it's no surprise that SCP officially announce that defender Beto will be the SCP captain during a press conference today. Good Choice as he is the longest tenured SCP player. He has been part of the first team for 10 yrs now after a loan spell at Campmaioresense and Lamas... If he can just get over some of his "anger" issues he should be a good leader....

As far back as I can remember, all of Sporting's captains have been chosen based on who has the longest tenure. Not always the best of criteria, but Beto is well deserving. He's always been one of my favorites. Although he is much maligned, I still think he's one of the best central defenders Portugal has. I like how he admits that he needs to control himself, though I'm skeptical that he will.
