This has been a banner year for me. I'ne bought four whole albums: 1) Sounds of Silver - LCD Soundsystem 2) Sky Blue Sky - Wilco 3) Sino - Cafe Tacvba 4) In Rainbows - Radiohead
I don't but a whole lot of new music, but Springsteen's new one is great. As with anything, you'll probably enjoy it more if you're already a fan. It's definitely old school Bruce, with lots of piano, organ, sax and harmonica. If you're in the category of "I like his old stuff, but can't get into his newer stuff" (which I'm not), give this a try. I was suprised (in a good way) by, and highly recommend, John Fogerty's "Revival". I only bought it because it was on display next to Springsteen's "Magic" when I bought that one. This is a fun disc, that's probably as good beginning to end as anything he did with Creedence. One warning, though: if you're a supporter of President Bush, you might not care for a couple of the songs. I haven't really gotten into "Icky Thump" or the new Wilco disc.
I know this is from ways back, but yes and no. It was released in early 2006 in the UK, and that's when the blogs caught on, but she didn't officially release in the US until this year. I second the National, Feist (despite the overexposure), and Li'l Wayne has been pumping out mixtape after quality mixtape. I thought both Stars and Rilo Kiley albums were awful.
I gotta say, except for one track, i was very disappointed with Tiesto... My short list would include: Chemical Brothers : We Are the Night NIN : Year Zero
