I don't know if there is a thread for this already but anyway...What has been the best goal of the World Cup so far?

To me,the best goals were Robin Van Persie's header against Spain,Lionel Messi's goal vs Iran,Chile's second goal against Spain was good too oh and Tim Cahill's goal against the Netherlands...Can't pick one though!

    So what is yours/are yours?

Andre Ayew's goal vs USA - best team goal of the tournament.
Other than that Messi's both goals and the flying dutchman.

Van Persie #1 and both of Messi's goals were the top for me. But there were so many to choose from.

I also liked Ayew's goal versus USA, but not more than these above.

I'm going to have to go with Socceroo Tim Cahill's volley, followed very closely by Van Persie's flying header.

I don't think this was better. Messi's last goal also included a beautiful pass while this one was a pretty basic pass. Also the last one Messi had to make a more dynamic dribble while this time the defenders gave him space. Also last time the shot was placed more perfectly right in the bottom corner off the post.

Agree on Cahill's volley. I had forgotten about that.

Still think RVP´s was better than Cahill´s volley. In fact, it´s one of the best goals I´ve ever seen (technically speaking). And im quite old.

This is true, Cahill had more time to set it up.

But let's not forget that Cahill is right footed.

    1) Tim Cahill vs. Holland
    2) RVP header vs. Spain
    3) Dempsey vs. Ghan (yeah my non-biased opinion) ;)

for team goal I would go with Chile's First vs Spain. More passes through more defenders by tightly marked players covering more area than Ayew's, which I would put second.

    Gervinho for best dribbling goal.

Cahill for one time hit. RVP second.

As for Messi, probably best two goals from outside the penalty box.

Van Persie's header, Jermaine Jones' strike vs. Portugal, Rodriguez's goal. I'm sure there are many more. Van Persie's header seems like a symbol of this World Cup, very memorable.

Still believe Van Persie´s will be the WC´s iconic goal. James´ and Cahill´s are close 2nds.

    Good, tks for the link.

    Definitively Van Persie against Spain.
Precisely shot from Blind, meters awaaaay.
Tons of different skills needed to achieve a goal like that.

Yeah, keep a goal keeper in no man's land and chip it with a header. I think that it's between Cahill and James' goal for the best of the tournament. But I loved RVP's goal nontheless.
