How about Pacquiao actually beats Juan Manuel Marquez before we go calling him the best fighter of his generation.

This poll is amazing. Tyson and Marciano ahead of Frazier, Holmes and Foreman?

Roy Jones Jr was the best. He won it in 3 different weight classes. Maybe more Iono but he made people look stupid. After what Manny did to Ricky I think Manny could be the best ever. He is stupid fast and clinical.

Pacquiao has said he is willing to fight Marquez again. So bring on Marquez! Pacquiao isnt afraid of Marquez.

Marciano was the best of his generation hands down. No one beat him.

Tyson was a monster until Don King took over. Tyson vs Holmes, Foreman, Ali or Frazier at their best would be a great fight. Who knows for sure who would win, but I doubt any of the fights would go the distance. :D

Hopefully the boxing gods will conspire and Mayweather beats Marquez so we can see a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight.

On regards to JMM, Marquez actually visited the Philippines during 2008 trying to get a rematch with Pacman. Amused by this stunt, Pacman joked he would name one his pets Marquez because of JMM's persistense.

Actually most boxing analyst had Marquez beating Pac in both fights.

Pacman came in to the scene when most of the great lightweight's were past there prime.

One draw and a controversial decision... we have yet to see a fight in which Pac has clearly beaten JMM.

If floyd takes JMM lightly he will lose no doub about it.

His generation was suspect compared to that of the guys I mentioned. Great fighter, tho.

Tyson's prime era suffers from the same lack of talent that Marciano's does. I think Foreman, Holmes and Frazier outlast Tyson in ugly brawls. He doesn't even get close to Ali without getting jabbed to absolute frustration.

Both will take this fight seriously since a win will lead to a handsome payday with Pacquaio

But would you say that JMM clearly beats Pac in both their fights?

Roy Jones can't be considered due to the drugs issue. It's too hard to say if he was winning naturally all the time or not, the big decline since then has also been too steep, just adds to the feeling that there was something up.

Manny needs to beat the winner of JMM/Floyd before he can join the best. Those two fights against JMM were too close and so far his biggest other wins were all against people arguably some way past their best - MAB, Morales, DLH definitely and Hatton.

He kicked jmm's ass in both fights imho, and that when he was a one handed puncher. You talk about beating fighters way past their prime, but you forget Pacman is 31 years old? He aint exactly a spring chicken either.

BTW Pacman doesnt need to prove himself that he is one of the best boxers, he has won 6 titles in 6 different divisions already. Yes SIX divisions and don't tell me its easy to train to fight in different weight classes. It only proves that Pacman isn't a one-trick pony in one weight class. Has any boxer being discussed in this forum ever done that?

Also Pacman tries to improve himself each fight. He started as a left-handed brawler now he has added to his arsenal his right.

Bring on Floyd and JMM I'm sure at Pacman's form at the moment both will be sent to retirement talk.

Wikipedia entry for the first JMM-Pacman fight:
If true then Pacman should have had 2 split decision wins over JMM. I would like to see them fight at light-welterweight for a 3rd time.

He's been with Roach at Wild Card Gym since 2003 or maybe earlier.
