As a largato, you were fortunate enough to witness their worst run in history. Let's not exaggerate though, Benfica has missed 6 CL seasons not 10. Perhaps, you're thinking of campeonatos. Now, tell me when was the last time Sporting was participating in the CL?

Tell me, do you remember Sporting's record from 1982 to let's say 1999?

My bad, let's talk about the future. SLB will successfully defend their title as Portuguese Champions. However, before they do that they will hand Sporting Clube de Portugal a beating on January 29, 2006.

Was that the year you played Celta Vigo? I'm not sure...

    But boy...7-0!! SEVEN!

What a fantastic display by the Glorigozo in European Competitions!! You must have been so proud to be a Benfiquista that day.

WTF am I talking about... you were still playing with your crayons back in 1999.
I'm sure your daddy spared you the disapointment and never told you about that game.

But hey, you're a big boy now and so I can tell you this: Benfica deffended that 7-0 very well for the last half hour of that game.
Personally I thought the result was going to reach double digits. :D

PS. Oh and btw, Saint Etiénne is still the most successful team in France, with more than the double of Lyon's titles. Does that mean they're the best team in France?

By Benfica's complex equation method of judging who the best team is, Yes, St. Etienne is the French version of the glorigozo.

Oh, you know. Those are the types of games that rival fans like to record in their mental scrap books. Again, all this happened during Benfica's worst period ever.

We've all been there at one point or another. We've all experienced proud moments but as supporters we accept that along with the thrill of victory sometimes comes the agony of defeat. In the end, a loss in European competition is a loss whether it be 7-0 or I don't know let's say 4-0 ;) Every team has their moments.....we don't have to dig very hard :D

Benfica handed you your ass in your very own concrete structure you like to call home not too long ago with a team that pales in comparison to the one just assembled. This Benfica squad may just double the score when you visit on Feb 26, 2006. Perhaps, I will place this next game alongside the 2-0 drubbing in my very own mental scrap book. ;)

Je ne sais pas! What I do know is that right now SLB are the Portuguese Champions so until they are dethroned then yes they are the best team in Portugal.

    Oooh. Very impressive.
Your ONE victory there in, what... 15 years?

and btw... "handing you your ass" requires a scoreline along these numbers

    Glorigozo 0 - FC Porto 5 in '95
    FC Porto 4 - Glorigozo 0 in 2000

Yeah, that's right. I already have these in my own "mental scrap book".

I believe the only reason why they did this was to get a home field atmosphere...keep in mind, douche bag extraordinaire, Jose Veiga, was the main shareholder for Estoril so he was pretty much pocketing that money anyhow.

correct me if I'm wrong...but don't goals count in aggregate matches like the on you played with Celta??? so yea, I think it does matter if you lose 7-0 in that case.

Well, that streak had to end sometime. Did you think Benfica would be winless forever? That era has ended and a new one has started. The days of porco being uncontested are over....

How would you categorize a 12 -2 scoreline? As long as we're reminiscing, the most FC Porco has pumped past us has been 5 goals. SLB has done that several times, along with 6's & 7's. It doesn't really mean much but I thought I'd bring it up since we're having a good ol' pissing contest :D
