Barcelona president hits back at Madrid legend Di Stefano

Barcelona president Joan Gaspart has hit back at criticisms from Alfredo Di Stefano yesterday.

Di Stefano, who is an honorary president of Real Madrid, slammed Barca for their handling of Juan Roman Riquelme and also claimed he did not join Barcelona over fifty years ago because of "political reasons".

Gaspart insists Di Stefano is "not qualified" to speak on such subjects. He said, "If there is a person who cannot speak of this extra-sport rivalry it is Mr. Di Stefano. His opinions give an historical injustice to such issues.

"His criticisms have nothing to do with sport and are now things of the past."
