Is there a good soccer bar near Georgetown or really anywhere near to catch the USA vs Jamaica world cup qualifier at 930 Friday night?

Thanks in advance from a visitor!

That's a good question, I'd like to know if there is one in Silver Spring.

Which systems have BeIn? I know comcast doesn't. Does DirecTV? I know I often watch DCU games at McGinty's, but can't remember if they've got it.

(Silver Spring, btw, is about 25 mins drive in decent traffic from G'town. I'd tell you how far it was by Metro, other than Georgetown is too snooty for Metro. And anyway I'd bet you could do better than coming East of Rock Creek)

Be-in Sport or how ever you say it is channel 620 on DirecTV. I didn't know Georgetown was snooty! It's just where my hotel is. Not sure I'd want to take a 25 min train ride to watch a game on TV. I just figured there must be a sports bar in the city somewhere.

Laughing Man Tavern (http://www.laughingmantavern.com/) is where DC American Outlaws have their viewing party - I think they have drink specials too or something, check out their facebook page for AO DC - I think it has all the info.

I've watched a few matches Summers in Arlington and Four Courts which are right across the river, but they're only OK to watch games at (and four courts could be packed if the Bruins are playing since it's a Boston bar)

I've also seen US games at Fado's in Chinatown, but that could be hit or miss.

I went to school at Georgetown. I'll tell you where not to watch it: The Tombs. Good burgers, but the people there suck.

Never tried to watch a game in Silver Spring. Wait, that might not be true. I might have tried once and struck out.

I"m puzzled by your comment about Comcast. I thought that was the one system that did have BeInSport.

You'd have to walk at least 1, 1.5 miles to get to a train anyway

A long, long time ago, when I lived in Glover Park, I sometimes walked down P Street N.W. to the DuPoint Circle Metro Station and I've walked a few times from around M & Wisconsin to the G.W. Metro Station. The walk won't kill you and the neighborhood you'd be walking through aren't necessarily dangerous.

Oh I don't mind the walks at all...I'll walk an extra mile sometimes to save 6 extra stops and a transfer. I walk home from Greenbelt, like 2 or 3 miles at like 230/3 in the morning if I go out in DC that night.

Probably a different story though for someone visiting town for a weekend.

Aren't we supposed to be getting biblical rains around that time, though?

The problem with Summers is that the food is scarcely better than a big mouthful of ass.

Just don't eat there. Drinks are good. Tons of Soccer TVs. You can always eat at Wendy's across the street if you need to

DON"T WATCH ANY SOCCER IN ANY BAR IN GEORGETOWN! I love Georgetown, I really do. But its very touristy (non soccer touristy, that is.) And probably the least soccer TV Bar friendly place in the DC area. You can probably see any football, basketball, and even college baseball in georgetown. Soccer would be least likely.

Your best bet is to go party with the Outlaws in DC. Go to their Facebook page. Their giving away FREE BEER, according to a post I read. Even thinking of going myself.

Summer's is also awesome place. Big group of soccer fans show up. Even for big DC United games (playoffs, etc) a big crowd shows up. Still a great place to see soccer. If you need to eat stick to french fries and nachos. Summer's is a quick metro trip from Foggy Bottom. 2 quick stops and you'll be there.. Pretty much, right a 30 second walk right off the Courthouse metro station.

Lucky's in Dupont / Adams Morgan is probably your 3rd best bet.

In Summer's defense, the service has gotten a little better but the food is still atrocious.
