The Spanish Tv Channel "La Sexta" decided to delay the match Sevilla FC vs. Levante UD in order to brodcast the press conferences of Mourinho and Guardiola and Biris Norte protested throwing into the field thousands of tennis balls. From all the incomes produced by the TV rights 50% is taken for Barcelona and Real Madrid the remaining 50% is divided among 18 teams. This protest was Worldwide TT on Twitter. This is teh most unequal League in the world. Del Nido tried to lead a protest at against the inequity before the season started, but except for Betis and Villareal all the other clubs caved to Real Madrid and Farcelona. I think the clubs should send their youth squads to play in the Barnabeu and Nou Camp, but use their best players in front of their own fans. But with 15 wimps running the other clubs, this is what you get. Even with the imbalance, there is no way Atletico and Valencia deserve better money than Sevilla. That's crazy.
The liga is the way it is because of the TV revenue disparity between Barca, Madrid and the rest of the 18 teams. Anyone who has lived here in the US recognizes the importance of sharing TV revenue as teams like Granada or Osasuna can not compete against the big two. Until the other club Presidents grow a spinal chord the chasm between the big two and remaining clubs will only grow larger. I agree with QDog the teams should play their B teams or youth clubs against the big two and when the broadcasters realize that no one is watching the matches anymore against Barca and Madrid the advertisers will either pull their contracts or the broadcasters will eat their lunches when they realize that they are losing millions as no fans are watching the matches. Ese Beti Oe!
Two of the best moments in La Liga was watching the celebration in La Coruna when Depor won the league and when Sevilla was pushing to the last day for the triple. It didn't matter if you liked those teams or not, it was knowing your team could compete with the right management, technical staff, players and fans. Unless something changes I'm afraid we'll never see those moments again.
