    1950s:

    1950 Puskas / Ademir / Zizinho / Ghiggia / Schiaffino
    1951 Nordahl / Liedholm / Wilkes / Puskas / Zizinho
    1952 Kubala / Puskas / Kocsis / W. Gómez / Bozsik
    1953 Puskas / Hidegkuti / Kopa / Lofthouse / Bozsik
    1954 Kocsis / Puskas / Walter / di Stefano / Schiaffino
    1955 di Stefano / Kopa / Puskas / Schiaffino / Kocsis
    1956 di Stefano / Kopa / Schiaffino / Julinho / Milutinovic
    1957 di Stefano / Sívori / Didí / Edwards / Kopa
    1958 Pelé / di Stefano / Kopa / Didi / Fontaine
    1959 di Stefano / Pelé / Didí / Suárez / Kopa

1952, 1958 and 1959 are really difficult years to choose a winner. Too much level.

    1990-91

In this ranking I have taken into account the rankings of the following awards: Ballon d'Or, ESM - FIFA World Player, World Soccer World Player of the Year, Best Player in America, both from El Mundo and El País and the Onze de Onze, both in the Onze d'Or and positional voting. To these I add my own ranking, which this season, as you will see below, only reaches 52 players. This is the ranking that I put the first is the one that I think should be considered in the purpose of this thread for having a more objective character than the one made by myself.

    1.- Papin (Francia)
    2.- Matthaus (Alemania)
    3.- Prosinecki (Yugoslavia)
    4.- Pancev (Yugoslavia)
    5.- Savicevic (Yugoslavia)

6.- Lineker (Inglaterra); 7.- Vialli (Italia); 8.- Hughes, Mark (Gales); 9.- Waddle (Inglaterra); 10.- Mancini (Italia); 11.- Caniggia (Argentina); 12.- Scifo (Bélgica); 13.- Blanc (Francia); 14.- Baresi (Italia); 15.- Batistuta (Argentina); 16.- Voller (Alemania); 17.- Belodedici (Yugoslavia); 18.- Rodríguez, Leonardo (Argentina); 19.- Ruggeri (Argentina); 20.- Abedi Pelé (Ghana); 21.- Zenga (Italia); 22.- Van Basten (Holanda); 23.- Martini (Francia); 24.- Goicoechea, Jon Andoni (España); 25.- Pagliuca (Italia); 26.- Chapuisat (Suiza); 27.- Pearce (Inglaterra); 28.- Koeman (Holanda); 29.- Doll (Alemania); 30.- Weah (Liberia); 31.- Stoichkov (Bulgaria); 32.- Gascoigne (Inglaterra); 33.- Saunders (Gales); 34.- Baggio, Roberto (Italia); 35.- Strachan (Escocia); 36.- Skuhravy (Checoslovaquia); 37.- Boli (Francia); 38.- Pallister (Inglaterra); 39.- Seaman (Inglaterra); 40.- Saravakos (Grecia); 41.- Bergkamp (Holanda); 42.- Goycoechea (Argentina); 43.- Hassler (Alemania); 44.- Sammer (Alemania); 45.- Romario (Brasil); 46.- Barnes (Inglaterra); 47.- Sauzée (Francia); 48.- Ricardo Rocha (Brasil); 49.- Vierchowod (Italia); 50.- Southall (Gales); 51.- Degryse (Bélgica); 52.- Kadlec (Checoslovaquia); 53.- Reuter (Alemania); 54.- Walker, Des (Inglaterra)

In this other ranking, I have based it on aspects such as ratings in the different competitions, collective classifications and individual merits, ideal teams from different magazines and awards to the best national or international players. Regarding the awards mentioned in the previous ranking, they are also taken into consideration, but in a lesser proportion and in a qualitative manner. The sifting of players and the final order of the same obey an exclusively personal criterion according to the above. It is a "more subjective" ranking than the one shown above.

1.- Papin, Jean-Pierre (Francia, Olympique de Marsella; 2.- Matthaus, Lothar (Alemania, Inter); 3.- Prosinecki, Robert (Yugoslavia, Estrella Roja); 4.- Pancev, Darko (Yugoslavia, Estrella Roja); 5.- Savicevic, Dejan (Yugoslavia, Estrella Roja); 6.- Hughes, Mark (Gales, Manchester United); 7.- Ruggeri, Oscar (Argentina, Vélez Sarsfield); 8.- Mancini, Roberto (Italia, Sampdoria); 9.- Waddle, Chris (Inglaterra, Olympique de Marsella); 10.- Rodríguez, Leonardo (Argentina, San Lorenzo); 11.- Blanc, Laurent (Francia, Montpellier); 12.- Caniggia, Claudio (Argentina, Atalanta); 13.- Belodedici, Miodrag (Rumanía, Estrella Roja); 14.- Gascoigne, Paul (Inglaterra, Tottenham); 15.- Zenga, Walter (Italia, Inter de Milán); 16.- Scifo, Enzo (Bélgica, Auxerre); 17.- Batistuta, Gabriel (Argentina, Boca Juniors); 18.- Vialli, Gianluca (Italia, Sampdoria); 19.- Pelé, Abedi (Ghana, Olympique de Marsella); 20.- Pearce, Stuart (Inglaterra, Nottingham Forest); 21.- Baresi, Franco (Italia, Milán); 22.- Bergkamp, Dennis (Holanda, Ajax); 23.- Strachan, Gordon (Escocia, Leeds United); 24.- Hassler, Thomas (Alemania, Juventus); 25.- Pagliuca, Gianluca (Italia, Sampdoria); 26.- Voller, Rudi (Alemania, Roma); 27.- Barnes, John (Inglaterra, Liverpool); 28.- Lineker, Gary (Inglaterra, Tottenham); 29.- Goikoetxea, Jon Andoni (España, Barcelona); 30.- Seaman, David (Inglaterra, Arsenal); 31.- Koeman, Ronald (Holanda, Barcelona); 32.- Martini, Bruno (Francia, Auxerre); 33.- Romario (Brasil, PSV); 34.- Boli, Basile (Francia, Olympique de Marsella); 35.- Sammer, Matthias (Alemania, Stuttgart); 36.- Skuhravy, Tomás (Checoslovaquia, Génova); 37.- Goycoechea, Sergio (Argentina, Racing Club); 38.- Vierchowod, Pietro (Italia, Sampdoria); 39.- Degryse, Marc (Bélgica, Anderlecht); 40.- Kadlec, Miroslav (Checoslovaquia, Kaiserslautern); 41.- Rocha, Ricardo (Brasil, Sao Paulo); 42.- Southall, Neville (Gales, Everton); 43.- Reuter, Stefan (Alemania, Bayern Munich); 44.- Saunders, Dean (Gales, Derby County); 45.- Chapuisat, Stephane (Suiza, Laussane y Bayer Uerdingen); 46.- Pallister, Gary (Inglaterra, Manchester United); 47.- Saravakos, Dimitris (Grecia, Panathinaikos); 48.- Walker, Des (Inglaterra, Nottingham Forest); 49.- Weah, George (Liberia, Mónaco); 50.- Baggio, Roberto (Italia, Juventus); 51.- Sauzée, Franck (Francia, Mónaco); 52.- Doll, Thomas (Alemania, Hamburgo).

    XI IDEAL

I know I need to come back and update other things of course still, but for now I can confirm that Titanlux's 1991 vote is unchanged from his provisional vote so it has no effect on the points totals for the 1991 Ballon d'Or Revisited - they remain the same (I'm referring to his provisional votes that he sent by private message for 1990/91 to 1999/2000).

Since we discussed players from the 40s, here are Brazil's top scorers and assists leader in the 1949 Copa América:

    Top Scorer
Jair da Rosa Pinto Brasil 9
    Ademir de Menezes Brazil 7
    Tesourinha Brazil 7
    Jorge Duilio Benítez Paraguay 7
    Dionisio Arce Paraguay 7

    Assists (only players from Brazil)
    Zizinho Brasil 7
    Jair Brasil 6
    Simão Brazil 4

Apparently Jair was the player with the most goal contributions (15) and was voted the best player in the competition, different from what some sources said Ademir (who did not record any assists in the tournament). Furthermore, Ademir started the competition as Zizinho's backup at right winger and was placed as a centerforward during the competition. Argentina did not participate in the 1949 Copa América and Brazil was champion. Useful information for those who made the 1949 list.

These are Brazil's top scorers and assists leader in the 1950 World Cup

    Top Scorer
    Ademir de Menezes Brazil 9
    Chico Brazil 4
    Baltazar Brazil 2
    Jair Brazil 2
    Zizinho Brazil 2

    Assists
    Zizinho Brazil 6
    Ademir Brasil 6
    Jair Brazil 5

Unfortunately, I didn't research the other teams. But Zizinho was voted the best player in the competition. And Ademir had 15 G+A, one of the highest in the history of World Cups (Same as Kocsis from Hungary '54 who had 11 goals and 4 assists, also 15 G+A). Brazil had a very strong trio of attackers in 45-50 (ademir, zizinho and jair). More information for those who made the 1950 list

German newspaper Sports Kurier carried out a survey with 359 German journalists and coaches about who was the best in the world in 1969 (the Ballon d'Or did not award players from outside Europe) and Pelé won. 1 Pelé 2 Beckenbauer 3 Rivera

    # All years tallies contain one vote from a Reddit voter, in addition to all the Big Soccer voter votes.

@IceBlood34 There is now a tied 5th place between Lofthouse and Walter for 1953, and for 1955 Puskas is in 3rd, ahead of Schiaffino in 4th now.

Naubi did indicate he may be making changes for the 1990s I think, so I'll wait for now before updating for that decade, but I can go back to the 1940s based on this post (which replaced the original one for the 1930s and 1940s - Naubi did later comment that he switched Puskas into 1st for 1948 but I think I hadn't adjusted for that yet anyway actually so am doing that now)

I'm also taking account of the new votes for 1947 to 1949 by ffff15, which are linked in my recent posts (being within his latest post, with adjustments for other seasons)

No problem mate, and no rush (I think now you have notified us of the intention it doesn't matter if you post the others before any 'deadline' necessarily anyway, but as you know I was also taking my time to begin to update things anyway).

I'll revise the 80s summary now then anyway, to factor in changes from your previous votes....

Adjusting this then (note to IceBlood - there was already the one change re: top 5s that I mentioned at the bottom of this post I did, with 1986's 5th place having become just Butragueno, without Platini).

    # All years tallies contain one vote from a Reddit voter, in addition to all the Big Soccer voter votes.

@IceBlood34 the new changes to top 5s after factoring in Naubi's adjustments are that for 1984 the 5th place is now occupied by Falcao, instead of Francescoli, and for 1989 now Rijkaard is in 5th place alone, with Bebeto a point behind in 6th.

Interesting competition in The People newspaper (the question set in the issue on the 24th of June 1962, and the result revealed a week later on the 1st of July):

Readers had to pick a top 6 from these 12 (in addition the the 6 who were 'judged' to be in the top 6 finally by 'famous manager' Alec Stock, ex-Cup Final referee Alf Bond and People Soccer critic Maurice Smith there were also Danny Blanchflower, Tom Finney, Garrincha, Denis Law, Omar Sivori and Billy Wright available for selection)
    greatplayerlistpeople1962.png

Here are the 'results' (the choice of the panel - I guess not the most popular choice of the public probably, even though there would be many permutations available, as there were a relatively small amount of winning entries) - 1st Stanley Matthews, 2nd Pele, 3rd Alfredo Di Stefano, 4th Ferenc Puskas, 5th John Charles, 6th Eusebio
    greatplayerresultspeople1962.png

The entrants were invited to pick top 6s in merit order of 'greatness' although 'how good they were at the height of their fame' was also mentioned as a way to judge them.

If you'll be posting these up to 2019 (maybe beyond, but that's the end of one 'decade' in terms of the summaries) I'll wait until I see the 2019 one and then catch up for the 2010-2019 decade too mate.
